I would consider picking it up if I had room for a project vehicle! Run it until it drops and then drop in a LS :p

    Hmmm,
3.5 years later than my last post at 167k, and my truck has 224,000 on it.
The New England roads are not doing it any favors, the A/C stopped working a while back, and I broke a shock mount up front.
It's still comfy and starts everyday though.

Bought 6 mos ago with 107K for $2000 cash.
18K miles later and all I do is change the oil every 3000 miles.
I did replace the front rotors, all 4 shocks, and the drive belts when I got her tho.
10 years from now I want to be around 500K miles.

with all these high mileage motor and its age, I wonder when will manufacturer phase out our motors. reason I ask is because if they did I might just buy a complete reman and hold onto it. I love my truck more than anything and I spent more money on it than my girlfriends.

I doubt anytime soon, hell they still make parts for the 22RE engines and those haven't been around since 1994 so I think we're in pretty good shape for awhile yet.

Doesn't look like she's aged at all either, makes me happy to see people taking good care of these old treasures. The first gens truly were the last of a great breed, the last true compact truck Toyota made and the only one that shared close roots to the original 22-R/RE 4x4 trucks that put them on the map for being the most reliable and indestructible vehicles on the planet.
