I was just on a short highway trip and I found that I drive at about 120 to 130 km/h which is about 2700-3100 rpm... I feel like i'm really pushing it if i go any faster.

so, what speed/rpm do you drive at? is it hard on the truck to run at over 3000rpm for a long period of time?

You can run the truck at any rpm...its not gonna hurt it.

i cruise about 68- 70 and its right under 2k. Thats where i seem to get the best highway mileage.

Rolling 70ish I'm around 2300. Used to run 90 from Phoenix to Yuma at around 3300, no ill effects.

If i went to a bigger tire, I would be at a lower rpm correct?
(losing power and torque of course)

hmm, I wonder, because at highway speeds it would take less rpm to go the same speed... in the city it would be worse for sure.

good point, with the extra weight and coifficient of friction (air resistance + static friction from the road surface) to deal with, I'm sure it's a bell curve (too big a tire = worse highway milage)

I'm just a little over stock on mine, and it seems to me that I didn't gain anything on mileage (it came with these cheezy firestones and I went to BFG AT) - been a long time though and I was smoking too much back then. No firm numbers recorded.
