Thanks doggman. That helps. So can't they just say that it's there but it reacts / and is designed differently than the other platform levels. Or better yet just don't put it in there due to the fact it does nothing... I'll check out the newer model.

Have you tried to get the service manager to come for a ride with you so that you can demonstrate what you mean? I had the manager come with me and that helped get resolution, obviously you know your own vehicle best

That was on a previous truck, the hill assist works good on my sport

They all come with it. Just that on the sr's and the sport it's a vacuum assisted brake booster and on the others ( not sure about limited ), it's an electric assisted booster that works either with or thru the crawl control system. My sport is silent and holds for about 3 secs.and then releases ( unless you hit the gas, then it releases at that time ). Was in an OR that made all sorts of noise and banging and it still rolled back a bit. Was told that's how it worked with the multi terrain and crawl control systems.

Works great on my 2016. But I had to laugh when you said they had a script. That’s exactly what I thought when I complained about what happens if you power brake. All they had to do was explain To me that it is a designed characteristic of the drive train. but It’s like they heard my words and could have explained it, but since there’s a scripted response, that’s their go to. In your case they may be able to watch you and point out something. Not saying they could, but true to form, that seems their last option. Frustrating.

I was goofing around off road in 2 wheel drive trying to get stuck by stopping on the climbs and in the ruts. I wanted to see how far 2wd would go. It’s amazing how well it does in 2wd with open diff.

I thought this had roll control but I never found it, instead I hear the abs fire up if I let it roll backwards.
Every time I would slip back on a hill, the abs would fire off and at first it was annoying but Now it’s the new normal and I know to anticipate it while rocking or rolling back.
I also tried dumb things with the brakes, like pinning them in the apex of a down hill off camber turn, it tracked right around the corner like it was paved. I just kept doing stupid stuff intentionally and the truck never flinched or got stuck. Really really like this truck.

LOL only on Tacomworld™ do you find Manual-transmission people that WANT the goofy nanny-millenial features on their truck. In the mean time, next time you are on a steep incline or any place you would "roll-back" on start, simply use the "hand-brake" the way it was engineered for.
    - While simultaneously pulling up on the hand-brake lever, keep the button of the lever depressed so you can freely modulate the handbrake lever up and down.
-start to slip the clutch, and when you feel it hit the 'wall' of the brake, start letting the brake down and take off.

This should be the final exam of all "how-to-drive-an-MT" courses.

Never did need to use my boomer FIL's cheat of using the handbrake on a hill in my 94 Ranger. It had a foot pedal anyways.

I just let off the brake and hit the gas while letting out the clutch. Very little if any rollback and I live in a very hilly town.

I initially felt the anti rollback feature wasn't needed but have grown to like it. Works fine on 17 2.7 5MT.

Glad we still have a normal handbrake in our Trucks instead of those freakin electronic ones!

Is this hill hold feature present on 19 OR 6mt models?
