    Hello,
I have a 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4 with the a MT. I've seen several threads but no answers concerning -- turning OFF the hill-start feature. Turning off the traction control and the sway control which then turns on the Auto LSD does nothing to the hill-start. Has anybody found out how to turn the hill-start off? It can be useful in some instances but for the most part for me it's just a nuisance. When starting from a small grade the brake is still on when I want to go. I have to put the gas pedal down pretty heavy before it releases or wait the two seconds. Toyota would have saved a lot of headaches for many owners if they would have just put a button in the vehicle to turn off this feature when not needed. Looks like they aren't going to since it's been an issue for several years. Thanks for any help.

No one has found a way that I have seen. It can be annoying to me, esp when I want to coast backwards in neutral.

That said, you should not need to get deep in the throttle to release it. Any throttle input on mine, even with just the Ignition On, will release it.

The function seems to be part of the ABS unit, as it does not work when the key is Off or in Accessory.

I do agree with you that there should be a switch or some other option to turn it off. But then, I feel the same way about CSC. I've had cars and bikes that came with a live clutch from the factory. I'd like that to be permanently On.

Not being able to coast backward is super annoying in my wife's corolla. I'm lazy and like to just roll out of the driveway instead of putting it in reverse lol.

Same here. What's the use of slapping it in Reverse when I'm just gonna ride the clutch anyway.

can't you just roll back in neutral? I roll down my driveway all the time and hill start doesn't prevent me from doing that.

if you have it in reverse and clutch pedal fully depressed, you aren't riding the clutch. So you could roll and get the benefit of the backup camera. riding the clutch would be keeping the pedal between fully disengaged and fully engaged.

Still loading the TOB and diaphragm spring for no real purpose. I like to minimize that.

Reverse Anytime Cam. One of my favorite mods.

All it takes is a tiny tap of the throttle to release the hill hold. I do it all the time when backing the boat into the water and it's barely even enough of a tap to cause the rpm to blip up. Starting on hills it works exactly the same way, just clutch out and gas in like normal and it disengages with no effect on the ability to drive off.
