Damn the Hilux is one truck that looks way better when all covered in mud and sand. If I could get a Hilux here in the states I would never wash it :D

The Top Gear Hilux broke its rear suspension enroute to the North Pole and had to be towed by a Prado (Tacoma platform).

Another Hilux in the South Pole expedition team broke its transfer case on the way back and had to be repaired in the field (go to 4:25).

None as of yet, just purchased.
I drove Hiluxes all the time overseas, in my opinion, they are a bit roomier up front. Rear is tighter. They sit lower to ground than the TRD 4x4s. They handle just the same, (I have a 2013 TRD 4x4 Base). I have not thrashed mine as we do the ones overseas, but for the rough road I have traveled on there is not much difference. I feel better about my Tacoma off-road than Hilux. The Hilux do have a bit more power in both diesel and gas versions. The Tacomas sound as if the transmissions are working, you dont hear this with the Hilux. The Hilux's interior sucks compared to Tacoma. Tacoma has more to offer inside. The bed area is also not as shallow as Tacoma. Hilux has a more full-bodied look, while Tacoma seems more muscular and lean and more agressive. So far I like my Tacoma more besides the power of daily driving the Hilux, it seems to moves with much more ease.

I second this, having owned a 05 Tacoma and a 07 Hilux. Surprising to me is that I like the power of the Hilux better than the Tacoma, the torque in the Hilux is great, the interior is crap, and suspension is basically the same.
