Hissing Noise Behind Rear Driver Side Tire

Aloha all,

I know there are a few threads already discussing this issue but haven't really found solid answers. Most answers were "snakes on Tacoma" lol. Anyway, there is what sounds like a air leak coming from behind the driver rear tire. It's not the tire because when the truck is off, the sound stops. Only when the truck is ON. I brought it to my local dealer and they said it sounds like it's coming from your "air shocks", my King shocks. I tried to reason with them but they still insist it's my air shocks lol. So I left. Exhaust leak? Gas tank? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you.

Crack the cap, you'll hear the pressure release, noise will stop.

Pretty sure it's snakes that shipped over from the mainland. Get them taken care of, don't need any more invasive species.

You can easily test for larger exhast leaks by temporarily plugging the exhast while the engine is idling by letting back pressure build up a bit and listening for leaks - I use my foot (tennis shoe on). It helped me get repairs on leaky exhast sustems a couple times when buying used older cars.

its def gas evap system. my only question has been my 17 MT sport made the sound routinely. my 18 AT sport has never done it

 

In the grand scheme of things, I hope the hiss is all you have to worry about and if you took it to the dealer with no resolution...just enjoy life.

@1911tex I hope it's the only issue. They were so adamant that it was my shocks.

 

if its a exhaust leak just use some soapy water spray it on the exhaust when cold and u will see it bubble .
