The OP isn't coming back, they never do, there will likely be no closure.

I'm sure he's trading in on a new Gladiator as we speak

Did you hit the curb head on or just bounce off the side of the curb? If head on how big was the curb for your tacoma not to be able to wheel over it?

nice marks in the wheel id keep it like that and not worry about future scratches :)

why does everyone shit their pants about this
Collisions typically raise the premium $10 per month

    $10 per month
    $120 per year
For a guy who probably owns a home. And $40k truck with 700/mo payment
And you shit your pants at that?

First of all, got a source on that? Cause I just googled it, and what I'm seeing are rates go up between 38-46% after an accident. If your insurance is only $20 per month for your $40k truck, you're either doing something right, or don't have adequate coverage.

Secondly, sure, $10 per month isn't a big deal, but that mentality adds up. Spotify is only $10/month, Hulu is only $10/month, Netflix is only $15/month, etc. Before you know it, you're spending an entire paycheck each month on things you don't need. So if you don't need to spend that extra $10, why would you want to?

    -Checks pants-

    -No shit observed-

Why pay $120 (if that’s even what the yearly premium increase would be) for nothing, unless you are definitely filing a claim? It’s also the cumulative effect, should a claim be filed for something else within the next couple years.

Now, a call won’t definitely cause a premium rise, it’s based on the individual company’s internal practices and whether the call gets logged. But, good info for the OP to have.

Lastly, $120 is a meaningful amount of money from my perspective, and I can afford to go buy a new truck tomorrow and pay cash.

Insurance on a truck is at least $100/mo
A rate increase from collision would be at least $10

I don’t think anyone’s whole paycheck is Spotify
If someone has a 3rd gen they pull in at least $4k/month take home
    Which is enough for spotify

I dunno I would imagine because an extra $10 per month is cheaper than spending $10k cash yourself on a non-insurance collision repair where a body shop will charge the fuck out of you for any and everything

    Check build thread!
My dad was goofing off in the snow in his 2016 V6 AWD Venza, sliding around, and clipped a curb he didn't under the snow. Took out a rear wheel bearing (yes, I know, IRS is different) and knocked his wheel off to a similar degree OP is describing. Besides needing an alignment, the aforementioned wheel bearing, and one of the wheels rebalanced (knocked a weight off cuz winter steelies) and it was fine. That was about 100k km ago, and its at 200k km now in my brothers hands and still hasn't needed a thing.

TLDR; Had a similar experience in a different car, truck will probably be fine after an alignment and maybe 1 or 2 new parts.

Rim may be bent, I would replace it. I hit a 3" deep pothole on expressway, at 75 mph, and immediate steering wheel vibration. This is with only 10K miles on new Michelin LTX/MS tires. Two shops, including Toyota, never got it right. 2018 4Runner, which has since been traded, and not for that issue. If I was keeping it, a new wheel and two new front tires would be next.
Some good info by other guys on here.
