If you put up a story like this and you didn't go by the book (especially when there are police officers and such on the site) you're going to get rebuttal for not doing the "correct" thing- But now you know.

Guess it's time for a plate bumper!

I agree the speed was off, but being young that is understandable. Most people have no idea how fast others are going. The intersection looks better in following you story. I am not one to hate just like to see since where the damage was and how 90% of intersections are laid out, it would be tough to do. I am glad your parents are OK with it. Now you can get a ARB bumper for next time.

Ok, so you know you messed up your young.Live and learn as the rules go the cops could give you a ticket cause you left a scene of a accident.Your lucky they didn't.
now that i said my piece looks like it's time to get a new steel bumper some off road type so next time you really screw up their car.

You should have been able to see him - his headlights - coming if you were paying attention. It's easier to see people coming when it's dark out.

    But glad you weren't hurt.

You could see him, sure, but you don't know if someone is going to stop at a stop sign until they do or do not.

See his comment above... You are right, you don't know if they are going to stop or not... Judging by his comment, he wasn't paying attention, since he said he was talking to his gf on the phone.
