That made me legit laugh out loud.

Hit a curb? Welcome to TW! Everyone will tell you you'll need 4 new tires, and alignment, new diff, new steering wheel. Oh and you're crazy to drvie it ANYWHERE after such a traumatic event.

A rooftop tent and some permanently mounted maxtrax will fix it.

Hell, I hit a pot hole in a parking lot and bent a spindle and torqued my alignment. I feel you got off pretty light. You might want to keep an eye on that tire for latent damage however.

1981. Had to deliver a wheel to my customer, a Pep Boys store in Huntington Park that had a car on the rack and a blem wheel in the box. I had to be at Dodger Stadium for season tickets 2 rows back from the Dodger dug out. Made my delivery, slapped my '77 Jeep Cherokee Chief in reverse to back out of a spot and didn't see a 3 foot high. 24" round concrete light standard that had no parking lot light on it. BAMM! WTF!? Go to open my door...no bueno! Get out passenger side and go around to see my entire quarter panel buckled outward and pushed forward to pin the door shut. MF'r that was a hard, solid hit! Still made it to the Dodger's Game and got pretty lit that night! Several grand in repairs 1980's money! They had yo cut the panel out and weld a new one in.

Local toyota dealer has a system set up that instantly reads your alignment as you pull in the service lane.
They told my buddy his land cruiser needed alignment and gave him a print out.
He took the LC to another alignment shop. Dealer suggestion and system were spot on .
IIRC it was a hunter system.

So, OP my be able to get it checked for free. At least if he comes to Columbia, SC.

Interesting you mention that because I'm thinking what you describe is being installed at my 2 local dealerships. 1 dealer that I will never set foot in again was in the construction process where they had 2 massive rectangular holes cut through the concrete drive in and they were all dug out pretty deep like some serious equipment was going in.

The second dealer is a very new, large dealership that is all indoors, 2 big bays with maybe 10 service writer stations in between the driveways all enclosed with massive automated bay doors. They have these set ups built into the ground and arranged just like what I saw on the small scale at dealer #1. Interesting stuff and I was wondering what it was!

I've had people stop in the road for turkeys and geese. It's better slowing down a little. They need to learn the road is not a safe place to be. They will move quickly or they will be supper.

I remember hearing of a system that senses how the tire "scrubs" as it rolls across the surface. The wear/scrub sensor can extrapolate how the alignment needs to be corrected so that the tires rolls without much resistance. Or, I could be completely wrong. :anonymous:

Thanks again everyone. I will try to be less of an idiot out there nd I'll keep an eye on the truck. Was a pretty small curb and i just rode up on it very shortly, so hopefully nothing too crazy happened to anything.

A good alignment shop will do an alignment and check over the steering components. I would do it to be safe. Cheaper than new tires if something is out.

I will do this. One thing I forgot to mention — I had my tires quite low (30 psi) for driving on gravel roads for a couple days. Not sure if that would ease the blow a bit on everything or just make things worse.

I would think it would absorb the impact. Higher pressure could have had a better chance at blowing out.

    Yeah.
Hopefully these systems have improved. They've had the service lane systems for a while, although the ones they were using a few years ago took a little setup and can apparently either be done incorrectly or are not always accurate. I took my 2012 in a few years back, and the service lane system indicated I needed an alignment. So, I paid them for an alignment. Got the truck back, and the "BEFORE" numbers from the actual alignment rack were all well within spec and they barely made any adjustment. I didn't notice the BEFORE numbers until I got home. Anyway, I kept both printouts to show them if I had to go back for another alignment.
