That is a really weird situation actually. haha

I don't know if they is one or not. I am leaning towards no since I think you can shift into 4Lo with the transmission in gear, just have to have the clutch depressed.

There is no sensor to detect neutral in any of the manual transmissions. I don't know the details of the quoted text, but I am pretty confident that once the cruise bounced off the rev limiter, it would disengage. Anyone with a manual and cruise care to test this out? I don't have cruise, and I am a 1st gen.

The limiter only works once, next time it's pistons through the hood.

I have done this several times just to test, and it does not exceed the rev limiter when pushed out of gear while cruise control is still active.

And to the op; I hit the limiter daily so no need to worry :D

I tested it in my dad's RSX once. Was coasting down a big ass hill in neutral and forgot to put it in gear before I hit the cruise. No kill on it. Rev limiter for days.

Ur fine..... First pic in my build thread, I was bouncing off the limiter in 1st, then manually shifted to 2nd and hit the limiter, then into 3rd and rode the limiter until the tires stopped spinning.

Trucks fine..... Tires, no..... Engine, yes.

There is nothing like the sweet sound of a yota bouncing off the limiter... these motors seem to like the revs more then other brands of trucks. You will be fine. Search for tacoma rev limiter videos on youtube. Plenty of people abuse them and come out fine. I try to stay off mine just cause I want to see how many miles I can get outta my motor.

Makes sense because iirc, Yamaha had a hand in the whole vvti development years ago.

Actually the Tacoma engine does not want to rev high. The torque is at lower rpm and the power dies off after about 4500 rpm. No reason to go higher.

I know the torque and hp curve drops before redline... I meant the taco motors seem to rev quicker than other similar motors. Prolly shoulda worded my other post different. Like they seem to climb the revs more quickly and unrestricted if that makes sense? My '02 Ranger with the 4.0 V6 (that I traded for my Taco :D ) didn't rev as freely as the 4.0 yota motors.

Any ways... Tacomas on limiters, not good for engine life/longevity imho. But still a sweet sound and wont hurt here and there.
