    1. Was hit on the way home tonight. Didn't even feel it, but noticed the car got Very close to me. Stopped and took a look at the red light and sure enough they hit me. Barely 10k on the clock. It ate through some of the clear coat on the bed and put a slight bend in the panel. Also ate the paint off the bumper end cap. I am filing a police report on it, but in all reality, is this worth filing on my uninsured motorist?

It depends on what your deductible is and what the cost of repair is. if deductible < repair cost then yes. But that damage is pretty minor. I bet most people on here will tell you get some touch up paint and do it yourself.

New fender flare and bumper cap for $200 and buff the paint on the bed, good to go.

This type of damage is almost inevitable with cell phone texting drivers. They need to make texting while driving a point or two on your license.

I wouldn't file. I would fix the bed paint and possibly replace the fender flare. I would put the money to fix the bumper in to getting a nice aftermarket one :)

90% of that should buff out. I wouldn't file a report because that will show up on Carfax and undoubtedly hurt you in the long run.

Take it off road. That’s normal trail rash.

Check to see if your insurance will go up for 3 years before reporting.

Tailgating on their way to a tailgating party. All the signs of a Allstate commercial.
This really stinks. I hope it all works out for you.

With barley 10K on the clock I would buff it out and keep on riding. Save your deductible for more serious problems. just my .02

Man that sucks, but it happens. The Mrs. gives me the business for using my horn. I would definitely get it fixed. That's a brand new truck. As far as uninsured motorist claims, and premiums going up, I think it depends who is at fault. Since they didn't stop it's pretty much your word. Make sure the police report states they crossed into your lane. Good Luck.

Nah, they need to treat it like a DUI. Everyone knows drunk people make bad decisions but we will make their lives hell if they get behind the wheel. Texting has been shown to be roughly equivalent to drunk driving but the person is making the decision to text while sober.

Here in TX we have laws against cell phone use in school zones; people still do it. Laws don't matter, there will always be idiots.

I would advise against filing. As many already stated, your vehicle will be listed as involved in an accident. Also, you risk your insurance increasing as you have no suspect vehicle information.

I filed a police report last night for a hit and run just to cover my own ass if anyone tries to report it later. I went out at lunch and ended up being able to scrape the paint from the other car off. I thought all of the black was where they took my paint off. Still some scuffs, but nothing I won't be able to live with.
