Just lifted my Taco and now I need a drop to tow my travel trailer. According to this: https://www.etrailer.com/faq-ballmount.aspx, my hitch height is 21.75" and my coupler height is 13.75" so I need an 8" drop. But, when I have everything loaded and hitched up I expect my tail end to sag at least an inch, maybe even more. So should I account for that and go with a 7" drop? Or am I overthinking this and should just get a height adjustable hitch?

Measuring the hitch unladen will not give you a correct measurement. Even 7" might be too much.

Hook it up and see how much it drops.

Good on you for doing your homework, so many idiots driving with no concern for trailer safety.

Depending on how much weight there is on the hitch you might sag 4” or more.

What lift did you get? I would start by adding 3” drop if you got a 3” lift. If you got new leafs that have a heavier rating you might need more of a drop.

OK, that's what I thought. I will load some weight in the back and hitch the trailer up this weekend and then measure the hitch height again. Thinking maybe a 5" drop would probably be sufficient.

Get an adjustable drop hitch, then you can experiment around to see what drop is best for your situation.

I was gonna guesstimate about a 5" drop with a 3" lift. At stock height I usually ran a 2" drop. As everyone has already said it depends on your specific lift, load, and trailer.
