Hitch mount tire carriers?

Anyone running a hitch mount tire carrier on their 3rdGen? I'm looking at

Curious to know if anyone here are running these. I would assume they are easy on/off when not wheeling? I can see throwing this on for my trips, but day to day not really practical for me to keep on. Any pros/cons to running through the hitch?

 

CBI offroad makes a couple as well.

 

VERY easy to take off. One bolt and the hitch pin and you're off, assuming you aren't running a license plate kit (not available quite yet).

Doesn't make any noise, move, wobble and still can tow more than the Taco.

Does it block a back-up camera? Kinda, but still can see if you are going to run over the cat, your kids skateboard or back in to a Prius.

 

The Gater will wobble like crazy and you'll have to lift the weight of your wheel and tire every time you go in and out of the truck.
The Solo opens and shuts like a gate and has a system to eliminate 100% of wobble/slop/movement.

 

I'm liking the Solo and the swing out option. Very handy.

Not if you only use it when off roading. I like this idea (but not the price). I would use that hitch mount off road and switch back to under the truck when I'm not gettin dirty.

 

Why don't you run it under the truck when off roading? This isn't a Colorado or Canyon where it hangs down 6 inches

 

Which outboard bike rack is that? Do you have a link?

 

That mount was made by @KB Voodoo , but I don't think he offers them anymore. Couldn't hurt to ask him though.

I'm diggin' it. The hitch pass through really seals the deal, though.

 

That was just a hypothetical. I don't do advanced enough off roading to need to move my wheel.

 

Your truck can get stolen as easily as a wheel. A steel cable or locking lug nut only keeps the honest people honest.
