+1 for OneUp if you want the best quality rack.

I found a Thule T2 classic on Craigslist for $75, so that's what I'm using. No issues at all. I've also owned a North Shore 4 rack. High quality, but the carrying mechanism can scratch your forks. Bikes are also VERY close, so they can scratch each other. That's why I ended up with the Thule T2.

With the T2, tailgate easily clears when I have the bikes tilted down.

Is there anyone out there using a OneUp that also has a swing-out rear?

Also, is it possible to attach a standard Thule tray on a bed rack like a Voodoo rack or comparable?

I have the kuat sherpa 2.0 and I’m in love. Took it off road with 2 bikes and banged it off rocks crossing ditches and it didn’t budge. Friends have the one up but relying on the ball bearing just doesn’t sit well with me.

Anyone know of something that works with swingout tire carriers? Specifically Pelfreybilt's 2nd gen swingout.

I need a rack for vacations, and to let my dog in and out of the back with bikes on. The swing arm feature of the Yakima swing daddy is awesome. When I bought mine a few years ago the platform style hitchrack with a swing out wasn't available, especially when I tried to find one that could accommodate a fat bike and kids bikes. So I ended up getting the top tube style. I couldn't be happier, and that swing arm is so awesome.

I had that exact bumper and couldn't find a decent solution in the rear so I ran bikes on a bed rack. I hated it.

So I sold that bumper and now just use a traditional tailgate mat with my new bumper

My T2 has made it 14+ years and is also going strong. I’ve used it on 4 gens of Toyota 4x4s and it has been great on all of them, on and offroad.

The tailgate pad worked on all but my third gen Tacoma (empty bed option). Now the tailgate is too thick

They're fine. Work as advertised. Build quality isn't great (mud gets in them when wheeling) but the light output is fine. The reason they're so cheap is because the turn signals double as brake lights

    For the DIYers...

I had a roof rack, but I'm not tall enough to get my bike up there easily, so I bought a foldable cargo hitch rack ($100) and bolted the bike rack to it. Works great and can still open tailgate. Could fit another bike on there too (would lose ability to open tailgate).

I have a kuat sherpa 2.0 that I love. Recently the gf got a curt 4 x bike carrier. Haven't used it yet, but I'm so spoiled with the tray style, using a hanging rack is gonna be irritating lol

Kuat is solid. I've used it for a few thousand miles now including highway and lighter offroad.

I think this was mentioned once or twice, but the one up racks are amazing! I have one for my truck. The rack is durable, strong, and easy to use. The downside is that it’s heavy and it would change your angle of attack is low (compared to some other racks) if considering off-roaring.

The worst issue I have amhad Todd Ap with is one of the ratchets wasnot clixking/sliding smoothly. Haven’t figured out why yet, but it still works.

One up heavy duty double rack for the win!!! I’ve been thru a few different racks, all others are at least 2x as heavy, and not nearly as convenient to Load/ unload the bikes. The rack is all aluminum, the rear bike sits elevated in relation to the first, so even less interference between the 2. The thules and kuats are heavier, not as easy to use, and stick out further from your rear bumper, increasing your departure angle. I’ve yet to scrape and I’ve had it on my tundra and now my Tacoma.

One up seems the way to go for tray racks. Any body try the swingout racks like the Thule vertex swing away? Seems easy for 2 bikes but these trays seem so stout and i like the fact it mounts the tires and not frames and less swinging and swaying.

My biggest issue with Thule and Yakima racks is that they stick out further from the truck than the one up. And they’re significantly heavier. Kuats create interference between 2 bikes, so you have to loosen the stem of one bike and move the handlebar over. Lame.

From your pic it’s doing exactly what I was talking about. Your front bikes handle bar is interfering with the back bikes seat post. All my buddies ride with dropper seat posts. Any rubbing on the post causes damage to the seatpost.
