Came across an article with the below product. I thought it was pretty cool since you can detach the RTT if you wanted to explore without packing up camp.

    Anybody running one yet?

    That's pretty cool!

Would definately interfere while wheeling. Unless you setup camp then go.

Yeah, for the EAF guys it would mess with entrance and departure angles. But for a guy who wants to go cross country and spend a few nights in a particular location, it's a cool option. Plus it keeps your profile low.

Roof Top Tent. Although I guess this would be a RHT (Roof Hitch Tent?) Lol

And would cause a bit of a drag while driving, unless you have a bed cap.

I really can't see the benefit of this over a cot tent. Seems to just occupy the hitch and limit ground clearance in rear. Also completely blocks rear view.

Not to mention I bet it's still as expensive as RTT.

Like most products there's some people it's a perfect option for, and others it won't be a good option for. Not everyone is Expo As F*ck and needs all the clearance they can get. Lots of people have/want RTTs for going fishing/hiking/mountain biking and this could be a great option for them.

Benefits would be if you already have an RTT and want to move it off the roof, or if you want a mounting option that can be easily removed so you don't have to set up and break down camp each day.
Not everyone is on an expedition blazing the Rubicon trail worried about ground clearance. But I agree, i think this is will be expensive. I just noticed it's not being sold yet so who knows what the MSRP will be.

meh. I dont see the point....

    reasoning:
    1. departure angle
    2. "ditch it" and it blows away, at least when it's mounted on the roof, it's securely bolted down
    3. HMT (Hitch Mounted Tent) is a dumb acronym. RTT is way better. :D

Going to be a shit show if you are camping on soft ground, dang tent is going to sink right in with those skinny stilt legs, then it just becomes a regular tent.

Edit: if this is the estimated cost this is never going to get off the ground.
