    I agree. Need a longer attachment point so you can open the tailgate. Maybe not for all but at least as a option.
    Was thinking a hitch mounted cargo tray with this on it could be a good idea

    All seem doable. I could see a market for this for Tacoma and all other vehicles.

    One of the things I recommend if you haven't done so already to do is to make sure you don't infringe on any patents on the style of tow receiver hinge or even the awning itself. Although the market is pretty well saturated with that regards (tow hitch accessories), the last thing you want is a lawsuit that will suck up your $$$ just to end up that the plaintiff didn't have a case to begin with. I forgot what the number was, but I think it was 15% or greater differentiation in order to be classified as a non-copy patent infringement. What I am trying to say is best educate yourself on what is currently on the market or what exists in the patent world so you can say why your's is better and how, and to protect yourself in the process.
