So today I walk out to my truck after work and notice the rear bumper was sagging. After crawling underneath I notice the hitch receiver is rusted and broke. This is off an 09 sr5. I am not sure how to replace it? Is there any reason to not get a 3 versus a 4? I see the 3 is $335 from Toyota. I couldn’t even find the 4. I called my local savage yards and nobody had any time of read bumper with tow package available. Sorry for the ramble, but I am not sure how/ where to replace it.

The brackets bolted to the frame. Lookup etrailer for an aftermarket. Will probably be cheaper

Spray some penetrating oil on those bolts now, cause it’s going to be fun taking them off.

I went with a Kurt hitch and the Toyota OE wiring harness when I added the hitch to my Taco right after buying it. It's a nice solid setup that didn't cost a lot. I did like the way that the Toyota hitch ties into the bumper, none of the aftermarket hitches do that.

I'm thinking a big ass impact wrench and a bunch of disposable sockets; just snap those bastards off and start over.

    or…

have your local welder just cut all that crap off and weld a nice piece of 6” rectangular tube right across the frame ends.

Thanks everyone for the info so far. I’m out of town for work until tomorrow but looks like I’ll have my days off a little busy.

Yours looks like my 09 Sport did. I ended up getting a new hitch assembly from a Toyota dealer on Ebay. It was almost identical to the stock hitch, but with a couple differences. It came in 3 pieces unlike my stock unit that was one piece and the 7 pin connector did not bolt to it. I had to rig the 7 pin connector as it doesn't bolt to the new hitch. The new hitch was made to accept a 4 pin connector. I also had to replace the rear bumper and bumper support bar. It was a big mess, but it's done and should be good for years.
