Hey all, I haven't seen many people showing off their hitch-winch setups. For example, I just made a big box from plywood and put that in the bed of my truck. Wondering if anyone has found a better way (I have an access cab). I'm debating about just saying screw it and trying to mount it in my bumper

I’m not understanding. Are you saying you’re thinking about hard mounting your winch because you don’t like your current stowage method?

I leave mine at home (receiver mounted) unless I think I may need it. If I was going offroading or playing in the snow, etc. I'd put it in the hitch or bed but why carry around the weight if you don't have to?

I carry it around for emergencies, really. I did store it at home and I actually passed someone that needed help where the winch would have been perfect. One of those "have it and not need it than need it and not have it" situations. Plus I have the 6' bed so I sleep in the bed sometimes but moving that thing around is such a pain

It sounds like perm mounting it would be better for your needs.

Kinda what I was leaning towards, I just don't want my bumper to sag or the mount not be strong enough because it would be entirely fabricated, otherwise I would have to buy another bumper. That's why I wanted to see if anyone has a nice winch- hitch mount setup

I have it on a cheap mover's dolly in the front of the bed, secured in place with a ratchet strap. Made some quick connect power cords from a set of 1 gauge jumper cables to run to the back as needed.

That cart is a smart idea! do you have a tonneau cover to keep it out of the elements? Say overnight?

Uhh! You don’t need to keep them out of the elements. They’re built for it.

What you most do is lock it down. I use a plastic coated cable and loop it around my rollbar. Not only does it prevent theft it keeps it from sliding around.

I just leave mine mounted in the front hitch most of the time. I have a hitch lock and a locking nut on the winch itself. I don't drive it daily in the city. I can leave it behind when I know I won't need it on a trip but I also don't have a ton of room to keep it in my small apartment. It's like 85 lbs for the winch and cradle so I'd rather not move it often. My suspension handles it fine.

This is where I put mine. Out of the way, never have to worry about it.
