I got my LA going again after sitting a month.
@six5crèéd have you ever videod or seen an engines valves running in slow motion. I tried filming it today...

I had a similar gif of one of my friend's Sandwich engines but I deleted it a while back
It was way more interesting than my engines gif

I actually dissasemble one today a bit to get a generator power head off to use it on my International LA.

 

I should've said this:

Anyone want this? It's taking up room in the garage and doesn't feel right to throw it away.





It showed up on this, but repowered it with an old Predator. I love mowing the yard with it.

Cant blame you for not wanting to throw it out. I'm planning on taking parts off the one I worked on today before tossing the rest as it doesnt run.

I'm not really needing one at the moment. I have too many engines already and not enough space

Have you thought about making it into a generator? That looks larger than the 5hp one I have which would be able to put out a good amount of power.

 

Also what brand of tractor is that?

 

It's an old Wheel Horse RJ58, from 1958. Still has the original tires on it but the little K90 Kohler was long gone. I did find some NOS blade tips for the mower deck. This thing is crazy, with gear driven counter-rotating spindles.

Also came with a cultivator and I'm looking for a small moldboard plow for it. These were designed to push dirt and snow, plow gardens, cut lawns, run sickle bars, etc.

 

Oh wow the cutting edge is bolt on and its gear driven! Never seen either of those before. Sounds like it can do just about anything.

I would love to have an old mower like that.

For all my Samsung bros heres how I do my gifs...
Go into gallery. Select a video. Find this gif button. Then drag the bars at the bottom to adjust the time length.


Then theres the edge drag tab. I swiped through and found the gif/animation button.

With that you can drag a square around a video (I used this to make my slow motion gif as the gallery doesn't have the gif button option) and hit record.

 

Worked on the LA some more today. I thought the choke wasn't returning to where it used to sit. Sure enough the spring broke as the rings were all clumped together. When I tried removing the pin it snapped. The replacement spring is $10 and but I couldnt find a replacement pin.

I did some thinking and decided to just drill and tap so I could use a 1/4 20 bolt I had on hand. Went to ACE and bought 2 springs of different strengths. The stronger one worked okay but still wasn't strong enough as the engine wouldn't allow it to lift up so I put some washers on the bottom so it would compress the spring more but still have the correct gap. That solved the problem but the engine just didnt want to start. Probably will try again tomorrow.
