Nice. Safe travels. I'm from Chicago and I want to drive down old route 66 all the way to Santa Monica before some of the roads get shutdown. I just heard on the radio yesterday that the government that's responsible for restoring historic roads and sites won't be investing any more money on perservipr Route 66 since most of the town's along that road are struggling to stay afloat.

 

Sounds like it will be a happy ending for him. From what I hear he will get off without too much trouble

Ah my first trip long time ago me and the ole girl have seen a lot since then 177000 miles worth and still runs like new take care her and she will u ole 96 always there for me good luck

Awesome sounds fun. How old are the kids? Road trips are kind of the forgotten adventure and I’m glad you remember . Last year me my wife and our two sons did a cross country camping trip leaving Georgia and turning around in San Diego . It was killer . I love the road in between and have drove from Ca to Ga 7 times one way (used to live in Huntington Beach). Last year we also drove to Panama City beach,Michigan and the outer banks for some beach camping. The truck did great and was way more comfortable than a vw bus lol. Have fun be safe and don’t leave that truck running at the gas station or anything expensive visible.

 

He's five. I have the mother in law with us to help out which is nice. Your right about watching things. A few times had to keep an eye on the truck when we would stop to eat. Nothing was done but some people see something nice and will do something out of jealously. I love Florida always have. Just something about it makes me smile.

Made it. Feel like Clark Griswold lol. Truck did great. 18 to 20 depending upon how much it shifted. Sport mode comes in handy for the inclines. 4th gear you have serious power and 5th gear isn't bad either. 6th is for best mpg but shifting too much kills your mileage anyway. Got all the bugs off. Those dudes will ruin a paint job quick. Very comfortable trip. Though I was tired I was not physically hurting or needing to walk around.

 

I wish we were the only ones here lol. Don't think so though

 

Have fun bud, I plan on taking my two kiddos there later this year. Going to fly though because NJ to FL is a long ass road trip w/ a 2 and 4 year old.

inclines???? Boy do you ever need to drive farther up north or west!
Then you will appreciate what hills and mountains are.
That is all flat down there where you are.
