Hmm, new thread title?

Totally agree. For the past few months, every time I look for something to watch on NFLX, my thought goes straight away to "This is all shit".

 

10% nominal annual increase since pre-covid puts us around S+P 4000 as an ATH. That's following the pre-covid trend some say was already too steep.

I think worst case scenario is ~3800. With the expansion in money supply and inflation pushing up nominal values, even the floor of a new bear market should be higher than ATH before all the printing and inflating.

 

Also: Interest rates are still low as hell. That has to be accounted for. The risk free rate is about as negative as it has ever been, which means the discount rate when valuing equities is...theoretically infinitely positive, but in most models is a somewhat more modest projection like "Fuck bonds in the ass until rates rise at least 5%".

There is still No Alternative other than maybe real estate, and there is a definite ceiling on how long the Fed can keep rates above 4%...if too much of the current US debt rolls over at 4% or higher, debt interest alone starts to exceed the cost of Defense. The only solutions to that are cut rates or jack taxes WAY up...which one do you think is politically palatable?

 

Listen, we all love you, but I still consider the MOASS/collapse theory highly improbable.

I think it's more likely you end up in a good spot long term because Cohen turns the company around and it justifies share prices in the hundreds of dollars on fundamental bases alone.

anyone know on fidelity how to see what I actually put into a certain ticker? Auto reinvest for some dividend stuff makes it hard to see what growth I really have vs whats just the ticker moving up or down a little bit.

Also: I'm mainly boomer stuff rn aside from GME, MAIN, PLTR, SHEL, DFEN and NCLH. Might part with MAIN soon after next dividend. Most likely put some of that into PLTR for the long game and the rest to average down on NCLH or just to VTI. I don't have the mental capacity to watch stuff every day and try and do consistent swing trading or any of that. Schools almost done for the year though. Don't know if I'm excited for summer or not tbh.

there are a couple of things you can do (all on a PC for these)
1. Go to accounts and trade -> Portfolio -> positions. Click on the account of interest on the left and then Scroll to the right under account. It gives your current cost per share and cost basis

2. For dividend info for a specific ticker click on Dividend View to see the total amount of Dividend received

ALSO under HISTORY you can sort transactions by Symbol...Like $AAPL

 

My problem with netflix is the unapologetic push of LGBTQ+ content.

Look, I don't care if you're gay. I just don't want to see it constantly. Once in a while, sure, but every 5 minutes is too much. We had about 5 shows that were Netflix originals that we really liked. Netflix had a staffing change that I'll stay away from because it goes political. After that person came in, every show that was a Netflix original had a character that suddenly became gay. They were straight for the first 3 seasons and then all of a sudden



Every show had someone that was either bi or full on gay. The quality of the show went downhill because the focus became on the gay characters struggle and the show lost its substance. Without the substance that made the show good, no reason to watch.

FWIW, we also don't watch much stuff with heterosexual intimate scenes. We pretty much think "how would I explain this if my kid were to come downstairs" and if the answer is that "I don't want to explain this" then we turn the channel and watch something else.
