The story comes out... Maybe the dealer did the replacement?

Take it back to the seller (If a dealer) and tell them they sold you a non working rear window. Let them sort it out... Once they discover it is manual, tell them the truck should have a remote operable one from the factory.
They might take care of it...

I wouldn’t play too many games because it’s obvious the window was broken and I don’t want the dealership to assume that he did a half assed job of fixing it after it was broken but rather took delivery of a vehicle with an improperly repaired window.

I would get it fixed. I use mine as often as possible. Great feature with the 2 front windows cracked.

Of course I’m going to drive it. I think my Congressman will be a bit overkill (haha) but I’m going to send them my pics and see how they respond. Thanks for the input.

He already got fleeced once by the dealer for buying a "CPO Gold" vehicle, so now it's time to get something out of it. There's an old saying in Tennessee...

I don’t know whom is sliding through that window. Not that many adults would fit through there.

Salesperson contacted me. Asked me to bring it by when I had a chance. Will do that and post the results.

Went to the dealer today. One of the salesman (the one I initially talked to when truck shopping) routed me to the sales manager. We talked briefly and he got me to the office of the service manager. She came out to look at the truck with one of the techs and a parts guy. They evaluated what it needed (regulator and new back glass). While I was discussing the issue with the tech and the parts guy the service manager took down our contact info from my wife. She said she’ll coordinate with the other two, identify parts needed, and give me a call back.

Anyway, so far so good. Very responsive so far.

I had the sliding back window in my 1979 F-150 replaced by my insurance company, didn't cost me a penny. Would have been cheaper for the PO to have the right insurance

I use mine A LOT. Even in the winter, if the sun is out and beating down on my truck, nothing like tilting the sunroof open and cracking the back window a couple of inches to get a nice draft of fresh air going.

O.p. - May want to double check the spare tire for availability eg, condition, locks, complete jack kit.

Good call. I actually learned something. While all the jack components were there I found an extra piece that goes on the hook. My 2002 doesn’t have that extra part. After looking at the truck it appears it’s an anti theft deal similar to the wheel locks.

I came from a full size rear glass rolling down on a tundra and I loved that feature. Tacoma isn’t quite as good of course but I still use mine in conjunction with the sunroof opened and it’s a breeze literally.

that extra piece is probably the key for the spare tire wheel lock. Don’t loose that key….you will have not have access to the spare without it, assuming the extra piece is the key.

edit: my truck came with the spare lock, I removed the lock.

I don't use mine like I did with my old s10. I could reach through into the aluminum cap and grab a soda from the cooler or chuck my trash into the trash bucket. I miss that old truck.

It is essential for an FED fart evacuation device.
