Yea hard pass for me those extras are giving you the “ oh look shiny stuff” feeling try to fight it. Keep saving for the new one get the mods you want not what someone else wanted.

    Someone said TWO owners already?

Wonder about the quality of the mods…

Research every possible issue with that year - then research every possible issue with every specific mod, what companies were used, roof rack leaks, etc… - then do more research. Knowledge is power. If after all that research and giving it a good comb over you’re comfortable with the price, go for it.

That's something to consider with modifications as if the next owner will want them? I went through heavily modifying a Jeep and I'm sure if I sold it today, the next owner would change it nearly as much, meaning my modifications to him would be pointless for him to pay for.

People are free to spend their money how they like, but it's scary to see that some are approaching this like they're buying something that's going to go up in value. It's this level of mania that got people in trouble in 2006. I wonder if the next bust is going to be like the last, but with cars, meme stocks, shitcoins and student loan debt.

I'm honestly not sure i'd pay $46k if it was a new Pro.

Bro, if you don’t NEED to buy one now, I’d wait. The prices will normalize. You may have a lot more money than I do though, so it truly may not be an issue for you. If not, go for it.

My concern is once the new inventory hits the market there goes your money down the drain.

For a bit of time waiting you get so much more. Warranty, new car smell, that freshly screwed by a dealer feeling no matter what you pay, and no potential for someone else’s headaches. The new ones will be all your own

This is my daily. Bought it a year ago this month for $5500. Put new suspension all the way around including leaf springs, new water and oil pump, new plug wires, new LCE header and driving it till it won’t drive anymore. I just like driving something new every once in a while like my wife’s highlander lol.

I paid 40,500 otd on brand new 2018 pro 3 years ago. Wtf if wrong with people.... I knew I paid 3-5k more then the sports and off roads but it was how I wanted it and no mods needed besides 285s. How in the fuck are they selling used for 50k!! I bought a brand new duramax in 2009 for 39k. Times are changing I guess....

yeah I guess so. I wish I bought a brand new duramax back then because now those are insane too! I guess I’ll just stick to my 98 and ls swap it some day.

I guess having owned a 3rd gen I wouldn't pay these inflated prices even for a used Pro. It's a wild time to be alive, esp when people's incomes haven't increased to justify spending that much more money on a vehicle. There is no rareness in these trucks, just access to cheap/free money.

Just throwing this out there to give you an idea of the market. I just paid $38k out the door for a 2018 1 owner trd off road double cab. With 28k miles on it. It was stupid expensive but I had no choice. My 97 was done. Ball joint broke about a month ago and I had to tow it home and replace those. Then 2 weeks later the master cylinder went and left me without brakes. The way I look at it is you can’t put a price on the safety of you and your loved ones. This makes over paying a little easier in my case. My opinion is that you should definitely wait until the market calms down or you will end up like me paying $38k for a 3 year old truck

I’ve been eyeing TRD Off-road Tacomas for the past year or so and if you’re around 40-43 out the door, you’re on par with the average. I just picked up my very first Tacoma a few weeks ago despite the chip shortage and the ridiculous demand on these trucks for 42 and some change out the door. I realize that’s more than what others have spent on a brand new TRD OR in the past but I was content for what I paid for a brand new one. I’m in CA right now and I looked at my local dealer who had a sticker price of $45.5k on a comparable Tacoma but it was a TRD Sport…and used with 7500mi haha. Glad I bought it in a different state.

Just wait until this fall and grab one of the new Trails for around 40K or so and be happy.
