I ordered an Elite Off-Road front bumper in their now infamous group buy. Paid @Timicha in May 2013 and then rode the roller coaster of shady group buy shenanigans for 10 months before it arrived in March 2014. Just a bit past the 2 month lead time promised and short brackets to install fog lights and the bumper supports I paid for.

It is one of the best looking bumpers made for the Tacoma and I love the light weight of the aluminum but I wouldn't do it over.

Eric @RelentlessFab from Relentless Fabrication made me a fan for life when he messaged me offering to send the bumper supports that Tim couldn't deliver after 12 months and too many emails and phone calls. All he asked was that I rep a sticker. Still sporting it 3 years later, right about a pair of their Hi-Lift mounts.

The customer service from Relentless was great before I was a customer and remained great after I became a paid customer when I bought Aluminum Skids from them shortly after. The Elite bumper didn't hold up as well, apparently when you stop caring about your business and hire other people that also don't care about your business your product suffers. A bit too much skinny pedal on a muddy hill brought me up close and personal with a tree and cracked the center hoop weld.

So I went to the Lone Star Toyota Jamboree at Barnwell Mountain Recreation Area in Gilmer, TX last weekend.
They gave me a cool magnet.
    IMG_20170504_172532.jpg
I lead some FJs down an easy trail.
    IMG_20170505_115126.jpg
    I parked next to @rpkole
    IMG_20170505_184040.jpg
I rode around in a 22RE buggy and things happened.

There was a TW meet and greet Friday night, then since I was the only Official Trail Leader I headed out on the "Super Not Affiliated with TacomaWorld® TacomaWorld Night Run". @ETXTacoma wouldn't make a simple left into a puddle so I did a thing.

    There's a video too.
Lesson learned, just cause you've done it twice doesn't mean the third time will be easy. Also, hit the RSCA Off switch if you are playing off-road.
So then I was sad and my truck looked like this.
    IMG_20170507_100155.jpg
I took lots of parts off and washed it for the insurance people.
    IMG_20170509_204750.jpg
    Got myself a temporary whip.
    IMG_20170516_135901.jpg
And sent my truck off to be made whole again.

Well sometimes... you just have to step back... realize you daily drive it... and understand that having it flooded with some nasty mud... is not something I want to be come internet famous for...

But there is always next year... if the rear end stuff works out... I see some 4s/5s in the future as I am pretty sure I won't have to worry about blowing the rear end.

I tried a 5 at my first Jambo, didn't make it, plus it left it's mark. They are serious about the trail damage thing.

Ha... I am slowly building up to something like that... last thing I want to do now with the stock stuff is blow the rear end... trail damage is ok unless its major.

Blown rear is a great reason to upgrade

Other reasons are at play here to be able to upgrade... just need it to work!

Can't tell how you might know...

I am pretty sure the one we were at... was going to be way worse.

And when they are free. :)

There were like 6 winches and 30 GoPros. You would have eventually been fine.

You know what... next year... if it is there... I will do it. Unless it just rained like 2 days straight.

Why wait, you live like 30 minutes away. I bet Uber would even pick you up, Omega is basically a paved road.
