Bengal! Thats the name of the other breed i was thinking of. Do you have to worry about being scratched to hell all the time? I hate cats that want you to pet them, then when tehy get tired of it they let you know by scratching you or biting you instead of just walking away. I like the bengals but i want a big cat, i think the bobs get a little biger. But since you say the Savanas get even bigger maybe i will look into those. I want a huge cat. i dont care about breeding or show, just a cheaper pet version will be fine. i care about temperment more than the other stuff. I want people to walk in my house and go "Dear Lord! Did you know you have a man eater in your living room!?" My gf loves the bengals, i'll have to show her some pics of yours. I wouldnt mind seeing more pics of them as they grow. I know with dogs, the bigger the dog, typically the more health problems they have and they also have a shorter lifespan. Is that the same with cats? I have a friend that got a pure irish wolf hound and paid a fortune for it, but i think it's life expectancy is only around 6 years.

No, Nala and Pumbaa are spoiled rotten. They will stay and be pet as long as youre willing to do so. They even bother you ALOT to be pet too.

Nala likes it on HER terms, meaning she likes to keep her fet on the ground or in you lap when she is ready. You can pick her up and pet her, but you have about 20 seconds to put her down before she starts to squirm and claw her way loose.

Pumbaa is a blob. Hes happy laying on his back while you rub his belly, he will nibble and lick your fingers but hes never been over zealous. But when hes in the mood to snuggle, theres no stopping the 20 pound monster of love. He purrs super loud and drools, he gets chineese eyes and will bite my face and neck kinda hard sometimes but not to draw blood but to just hang on and say I love you with a love bite. As long as I dont pull away, I usually dont bleed.

Warning about bigger cats, they are VERY teratorial. For example, if you have1 or 2 Sevahnas or Oca-cats in the house and dont have frequent visitors, or the same guests do not come back for a long time, they WILL attack and chase off the strangers in their teratories. Its a natural responce to outsiders. And do YOU want to explain that to the police and anaimal control? At which point you will loose the animal and it will be destroyed or sent to another facility or zoo. Most areas have ordinances or forbid such pets, check your local laws before you get one. Most places require you to be licenced to own one too if they allow them at all.

This is why most poeple who have them have to keep them in pens out side, or in secudled parts of the house or dedicated garage keeping them away from the general public.

Do extensive research before you make a decison. No reason for a perfectly healthy cat have to be put down, because it just did what it does by nature.

Life expectancey ranges. A typical cat will live between 14-16 years. I've had cats get cancer and only live to be 7, I've had a cat that was hit by a car, lost his rear right leg and Gizmo lived to be 26 years old till he went blind. Even then his blood work was fine, but hed get stuck in corners and couldn't get out. I couldn't stand to see him suffer like that. I had to put him down just 3 years ago, I miss him a lot.

More pics of the kids below. : )

So here's this thread, in the middle of a site dedicated to trucks, with two grown men talking about breeds of cats, and one of the men looks like he should be in Conan the Barbarian! Its awesome! I love your cats Mike. i wouldnt consider myself a cat or dog person, i like them both, but i like the attitude cats have. I'm kind of a soliatary person and i like that cats dont bug you all the time.

As appealing as an oca-cat is because of its size, i doubt i woudl want to deal with the issues that come with it. I think I may eventually get a pixie bob. They even have the tufts of hair on their ears like a bobcat, they look identical except for their size. Do you know anything about that breed? Price, temperment etc...

I agree about doing your research before you make an impulse buy with an animal. I also dont want to spend alot on a cat taht ends up being a nightmare and attacking me in my sleep all the time or hissing at any guest that comes over. i have found lots of pixie bob sites but none of them really answer the questions i have

I've had cats all my life, couldn't imagine life without one roaming the house.

They are not nocturnal, but sometimes during the night I will hear them nibbleing on something or coming from the litter box. Then its right back to bed for snuggles and snoreing. :)

I found this on the pixies:
    http://www.breedlist.com/pixie-bob-breeders.html

Interesting breed fact: The Pixie-Bob is the only breed of cat currently accepted by any major association that allows polydacty, also commonly known as seven-toed, although there can be more or less than seven. Polydacty most commonly occurs on the front feet only, but cats with more toes on both the front and back can also be found occasionally. In all other breeds except the Pixie-Bob, polydacty is a disqualifying fault.

COOL! Bigfoot of the cat world!

My wife as two Maine Coons. The male got to 20 lbs (not fat) before he got sick and lost a couple of pounds. The female is fat and probably near 20 lbs, but I haven't weighed her. She's only part Maine Coon though. Both were rescued from the animal shelter. I get along with them alright. But I am more of a dog person.

Hobbies... my Taco & Bimmer. My 4 cats, yes thats right 4. There are 2 JBT's: Ayako & Sayuri, then there's Missy the spotty Mike` or as some say Calico and Slippers the "tuxedo". I love to read, books mostly and magazines! Oh and just hooked up my built in surround last night, so thats a new hobby, movie collecting & watching. Hm...oh and baking. See this is where I get real girly. I love to bake and shop. I mean I can shop for anything; tires, clothes, tools, SHOES and I am super duper happy.

So those are my hobbies in a nutshell :bananadance:

I believe Bobcats naturally have more toes. They typically live in snowy regions and the extra toes and larger paws work as snow shoes. I watch discovery channel alot. I haven't looked this up so i dont know if 7 toes is the normal for a full bobcat but i think so. I wanna get me one of those. Thanks for the info Mike.

That site was actually pretty informative. Apparently there is no DNA evidence of wild bobcat in the breed but they have many of the same traits, so there is alot of debate about how they got their look. I didnt read it all cause it got kinda creepy (like the cat lady from teh simpsons kinda creepy) but it was still interesting. I still couldnt find a price though. Where to you have to go to get an exotic cat like that Mike?

Go to the TICA website a search for local breeders in your area.

Prices very between breeders and quaility.

Before you do that, find vet who agree to manage their health
if yu get one. THEN go shopping. No sense having one if you have to go to the zoo to have it treated. :p

Hm mm... I think its gay to have a hobby forum or farm (whatever) on a truck site . I'm not here to learn how to crochet or do my nails. If this is something the Alliance really wants, I understand and why the hell doesn't that surprise me?

BTW, Home Depot closet doors really suck, don't they ?

Most Texans and the Northern Alliance :canada: are disappointed with this latest development however will not object to the freedom of rights the Alliance wishes to exercise at this juncture. :frusty: 007 is enlisting defectors and is prepared for mass exodus. Operators standing by to take your call.

(Thank you very much you stupid Daniel's)

Ok, let me explain TheMasters last post. Last night i recomended some good ole fashioned Tennessee sippin' whiskey for TheMaster to try.... Jack Daniels (also recomended Gelntleman Jack and Single Barrel Jack). Apparently this particular little Canadian cannot handle American whiskey and began drunk posting and PMing. Personally i am not really sure what the hell he's talking about. What do Home Deopt closet doors have to do with anything? did you fall through some of them? Anyway, i'm not gonna waste my time making fun of him but everyone else feel free to ridicule him for being a light weight. Glad to see you got a nice taste of America last night TheMaster....

Sippin' whiskey? Is that all you alliance boys can handle? Come on to Texas. Have some mescal and eat the worm like real men. You'll be able to post again in a week or two.

You just need to get some good tequila. It doesn't have to taste like ass.

Then tequila's what you need to get yourself worked up to meet GT! Imagine a tequila-induced Windmill!

My vote is still that you'll end up farted on, even if you do like cats.

Actually tequila is to mescal as champagne is to sparkling wine. They're the same thing, but only if you're from a particular region can you use the name tequila. There's good tequila and good mescal. There's also crap versions of both.

Yeah, but tequila that's done right is flippin' awesome...you should try Cabo Wabo or Corazon...we went to Cabo on a cruise about 4 years ago, and we tried the stuff, and my dad (who still says he doesn't like tequila) hasn't stopped drinking it yet. You just have to make sure that the stuff you get is 100% blue agave (which doesn't burn, and tastes awesome), or else it will SUCK.
