Malkin is just another Russian player who disappears at crunch-time. Russian players are filler, not leaders

Some what agree. It's becoming more and more clear that the Pens will not have their big 3 centers at the end of this season. If anyone has to go I hope it's Malkin.

No, he won playoff MVP, that says he had a great playoff yr. Only Russian to ever win it. Dude has sick talent, and the entire Pens team disapeared this yr anyway not just Malkin. Much like the Flyers disapeared against NJ.

I would think Staal would be the most expendable of the 3.

True, but Malkin frees up more space to address other needs, D and Forward. Malkin's next contract will probaly go for league max if he has another repeat season. Plus he's Russian, motivated by $$$. I would rather the Pens have a bunch of really good players than 2 great players.

Players like Malkin are hard to come by. He certainly would be a huge asset to any team. I would definitely take him on mine. However I would never expect him to be the centre piece. The fact that he allowed Cutourier shut him down is pretty glaring.

It would mean something if a Flyer won it which hasn't happened since 87 and the Flyers lost that series.

I think Staal could be a number one centre on a lot of teams.

81 pts in 68 playoff games isn't too shabby. "crysby" has 90 pts in 68 playoff games.

He takes a lot of dumb penalties, he tends to shut down in physical play which is suprising cuz aparantly he was pretty physical before teh NHL, and he has a lot of turn overs. He likes to wind up in his own end with speed then lose the puck around the blue line and the other team gets a 2 on 1 cuz the rest of trhe Pens are waiting for him at the other end of the ice. That's my beef with him. The cup yr he was a beast and single handidly beat Carolina in the conf finals.
