I hope you are right. So far he has been less than impressive from what I have seen. Dale Hawerchuk is pretty high on him.

Yeah what a joke. Aparantly the draft is pretty good this yr, the Avs would have had 2 high 1st rounders and a high 3rd. I think now Statsny, Duchene, O Reilly, Landskog and Downie will all be up for new contracts. If the GM isn't fired for mis handling this, I doubt he can make it past trying to re sign those contracts.

 

Its not that bad, then can easily just trade O'Reilly next year. If he has a good year then they will get a good return for him

You know, if i were a betting man I would bet Duchene gets traded first actually. I dont see enough value in a Stastny trade to lose him, and it makes no sense to run 3 top 6 centres does it?

 

There is certainly a high probability that O'Reilly becomes worth his pay. Unfortunately it will likely be in the year after this one expires. So yeah while it is a shitty deal for the next two years, it will likely be a good one beyond that whatever they should choose to do with him.

it doesn't make sense in the long run. Just like the Pens pretty much had to let Staal go. He is too good to be on a third line.

Isn't Duchene pretty much the most talented player on that team? I would keep him and landskog. Statsny is very underwhelming and O Reilly is not worth that much. $6mil for a guy that averages 13g/yr....no way.
