Of all the players I saw playing Mark Messier was the best. The man could do it all in the rink. Skate forward, backward, find the open man for an assist, score goals and was tough as nails. You only picked a fight with him one time.

I liked watching him more than Gretsky when the Oilers came to town.

Also in that era Mike Bossy was no slouch either. Too bad his back took the beating it did.
