AP: Phoenix Coyotes sale approved

The NHL has approved the sale of the Phoenix Coyotes to a group of Canadian-led investors, but the deal is contingent on reaching a lease agreement with the city of Glendale, two people familiar with the situation told The Associated Press.

The NHL agreed to sell the team to Renaissance Sports & Entertainment, a group headed by George Gosbee, Anthony LeBlanc and Daryl Jones, according to the people, who spoke Saturday on condition of anonymity because there had been no official announcement.

They said NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, deputy commissioner Bill Daly and the prospective buyers will meet with Glendale officials on Tuesday for talks on a lease.

 

So they're staying in Phoenix

Eh I guess there's a few that rise around playoff time. But let me tell you living in the States at my work, nothing pisses me off more than random people coming up to me "hey did you see that Bruins comeback in Game 7?" These are the same ones who couldn't tell you a dman's name besides Chara. They just catch a period or two after April.

Or a month ago I was asked "So when is Thomas coming off the injured list?" WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!

I'm not saying anyone in this thread is like that - mostly see it at my work. There's a few guys in this thread I can always enjoy a laugh with. (Not OZ he's a prick)

I am a huge fair weather bruins fan and you are a typical DB habs fan. So GFY.

 

Well we have heard this before and untill I see a completed deal I am over sweating it.
Wife and I have been season tickets since day one, love to see them stay but 4 years of BS back and forth I am no longer concerened.
Phoenix has a huge population but so tough to support any pro teams as most of the folks are transplants and have their favs already. Hope it works.

 

it's hard to believe that a group would buy a team that hasn't been profitable for 17 years and agree to a long term lease to keep it in Glendale.
