There are two major issue in regards to attendance, one has now be corrected and the other never will.

Location- The location of the arena is horrible for 50% or the area! In traffic it can be a 2 hour drive and then another hour home. This was a stupid move. We won't ever see this change, maybe with a the expansion of our Light Rail system in about 10 years it will help, but I doubt it.

Ownership- This soap opera has left a lot of people pissed off, I know several people that dropped their season tickets because of it. Some swore to not go to a game until the issue was resolved. I imagine that they felt that the Coyotes were going to move, so why waste the money. I think that thinking is/was ass-backwards. But the issue is being resolved and hopefully we will see an increase in attendance to support the new owners.

I grew up going to sold out Road Runner games (IHL), I believe with the right management a NHL team will do very well here. It has just been a rough few years that has left a bad taste in most people's mouth. It will take a few years to completely recover from all that, but it can be done.

 

You're right, that's exactly what the problem is. Most people call that shitty fan support. I'm sure there are some good fans, there are always small pockets of good fans everywhere. But overall, having a playoff and conference finals team, with the 2nd to last attendance...that means a team has shitty fan support. Sorry.
