Sabres buyout Erhoff

 

I am not surprised. The contract they gave him was retarded he had no chance of matching up to it with his play.

 

Where's he end up?? I'm thinking he's signed somewhere new by July 2nd at the latest.

 

Erhoff's play was fine for the cap hit of 4 mil per season. Two reasons why they bought him out. He didn't want to stick around for the rebuild and the recapture rule under the new CBA for front loaded contracts. If the Sabres traded him and Ehrhoff retired before the end of his contract, there would be the recapture rule against Buffalo’s cap. According to Cap Geek if he’s waived and claimed, the recapture would be this, a 2017 retirement would cost the Sabres $2.5 million against their cap for four years. If it’s 2018 it would be $3 million for three years, 2019, $3 million for two years and 2020, $3 million for one season.

 

Erhoff will no doubt get paid well on his next contract. He is a good player. The Sabres overpaid.

The official Tampa Twitter feed said they were putting Gagner on waivers to buyout but the tweet was deleted shortly after...
Not sure if they plan on doing EDM a favor for a future transaction between the two teams.

Nvm just read Gagne buyout is 633k for 2 yrs then 833k for 2 yrs. Purcell buyout would be $1.5m for 4 yrs. so Gagne buyout would be cheaper for TB if they decide to go that route.
