    League would be better off boosting revenue somewhere other than Toronto. They already get exponentially more media coverage than anyone else and sell out every game at ridiculous prices.

    I always hate that argument. If that's the case then no team in a cold weather state or Canada should ever win a cup, because those markets are always "secure". Is it really better for the league to try and cater to teams like Florida, Tampa, and Arizona where hockey doesn't work unless the team gets 40 wins a season? I don't think so.

    Maybe a player like McDavid could, mid-career, give a franchise long term stability like LA found with Gretzke but that's an awful lot to ask of a player that hasn't played a game in the big show yet. Only people who follow the game closely want to see this kid on the ice enough to buy tickets just to see him before he's even played a game in the show.

    BTW if Arizona get McDavid then it'll still be Canadians that actually turn out to watch him at least, cause the Americans in the Pheonix area could really give two shits about the Coyotes.
