Fair enough. I only caught the last three goals in the game, after the Star Wars film my wife and I went to see, was over. Now it makes sense why Bernier was able to get a win at least.

Can someone tell me why this was a game misconduct? Clean hit IMO. Only thing that's a bit grey is the fact that boyle overskated the puck but by that time borowiecki was already commited to the hit and boyle should have had his head up

From the referees angle it looked like he got the head. In all levels of hockey it's up to the player delivering the check to make sure it's not delivered to the head. That is all.

I guess the ref was of the opinion that Boyle never had possession of the puck.

 

A major for interference lol. Awesome. I'm not sure how it is written in the NHL book but any play that results in an injury should be called a major at the discretion of the referee if the play was going to result in a penalty according to the Hockey Canada rule book.

 

Rule 56 – Interference
56.4 Major Penalty - The Referee, at his discretion, may assess a major penalty, based on the degree of violence, to a player guilty of interfering with an opponent (see 56.5).
56.5 Game Misconduct Penalty – When a major penalty is imposed under this rule for a foul resulting in an injury of an opponent, a game misconduct shall be imposed.
