No, it's the way the rule reads. Rule 9.2b in the Hockey Canada rule book which applies to that level of hockey.

He's not in the NHL. He's in high level Junior hockey. It's not the same rule book or enforcement. If I can hear it I dime the guy. If he mutters it I, of course, let it go. The ten minutes doesn't hurt his team anyways, it only hurts him (unless he's a player that helps them but that's rare since he's an idiot to spit on a ref.) If the player is gone for fighting I throw on the extra GM, again, as the rules allow.

Not that it matters but I'm shocked the cops arrested him, especially on the ice. I mean, he's heading for the dressing room anyways for the match penalty, why take him down on the ice where the officers are at a disadvantage? That's why I wish the video was longer and started right from the initial call. It would be a great watch I'm guessing lol.

All in all, some cops probably got a little over ambitious or this guy is a repeat offender/problem off the ice too and the local cops took advantage of the situation to nail him.

 

I got ya ... yeah, depending on circumstances make the call. I'd still lean on no-call for just blowing hot air.

He's learning from his environment. Growing up as a pro on the Oilers is not going to give him a great set of role models to follow and learn from.

 

I had a choice in free contest of NYR/NJ or OTT/OIL ..I had a string of 4 games all away teams so I wanted home team. Big mistake thinking Ed had better chance than NJ.
