With the kind of money he is after, there are few options for him no? I would say for this reason there is a very good chance he ends up a Bolt.

It depends whether he thinks the Bolts will win in the next 2 years or not. That team is a prime candidate for coming apart due to too many young contracts expiring at the same time. If Stamkos thinks he can win there in the next 2 years he probably stays. If he thinks he'll have more chances to get a cup on another team than I think he will leave.

As for the Toronto angle I don't think they are at the front of the pack to sign him. They simply aren't at the stage of the rebuilding process where he would be happy I think. They can pay him whatever he wants and give him the "C" but, then again, so can Tampa.

I think he will leave Tampa.

Ha, that's funny. April 2nd they report that Drouin might be called up and then on April 3rd they report an injury. You couldn't make this shit up.

That is the general understanding of things.

I imagine there is a team out there who will happily manage to fit him under their cap in some way, only time will reveal how though. All I know is I would be reluctant to give him what his market value appears to be. I am not convinced that volume of resource to sign him will give equal value in return with his play

7 years at 10 million for a 40 goal scorer who can play in his own end isn't a bad deal if you are missing that offensive punch.

Stamkos creates his own opportunities and generates more free space for every player on the team by occupying the opposing teams top defenders.

    Wings
    Ducks
    Sabres
    Avalanche
    Flames
    Leafs

Those are the teams I can think of off the top of my head. The Ducks and Flames make the most sense if one of them wants to do a trade and sign. Both have assets that could help the Bolts today that they'd be willing to trade for a Stamkos upgrade. Yzerman could at least get some decent return from that if Stamkos is willing to do that.

The Wings, Sabres, Leafs, and Avalanche can all afford Stamkos without making too many moves. All of those teams also have expressed interest in finding a big name player to hang a C on for their rebuilds.
