Seems lame a team can be eliminated after only 2 games.

 

Well....Team USA was pretty lame. So I guess it's fitting.

 

Hate to say it, but it's true. But most people knew this, in the spring when they released the coach / roster.

But Blue, I get what you are saying. Hard to get a bunch of guys together and expect them to mesh and go play and win. In normal NHL, people give a guy a full season to get acclimated to new team / linemates etc. Sometimes it just doesn't gel right away and everyone is different. But no excuses, USA underachieved and basically embarrassed the program.

Good, it should be remembered. Because Kessel is right. If Backes and Parise are butthurt over it, too bad. It wasn't directed at the players anyways, so I don't know why they are so worked up. Shouldn't they be worried less about twitter and more about how to not go 0-3 in this tourney?

BTW, Kessel was delivering season tickets to Pens fans today, with the Cup along for the ride. So those guys should all just shut up.

Shit guys all sports events are like this. There are games you have to win. The USA lost one they should of had and one they needed against a better team. That's enough in international hockey to put you on the outside looking in and always has been.

I will add in 2002 that Canada went 1-1-1 in the round robin and they had to tie a game against the defending gold medal Czechoslovakians just to make it to the elimination round after being thumped by the Swedes in their opening game. After that hard fought tie Canada went undefeated to secure the gold in Salt Lake...

For whatever reason, the Americans just didn't have that spark.
