When I think of that guy, all that comes to mind was him celebrating like he won the Cup, when he scored his first couple goals of his career. Come to think of it, has he scored since?

Yak is another Daigle. He has all the right skills to be a top end player, maybe even a franchise guy, but he can't put together the rest of the picture because he isn't driven at all. Basically he wants to play using only his natural skill set without putting in the extra effort both physically and mentally all over the ice which won't fly at the NHL level.

 

I just want him the fuck off my team!!!

Nothing against him. As a person. In fact....he's a HELL of a guy. It was even revealed that he buys warm meals for homeless people, on a regular basis. Among other notable things.
But his NHL hockey ability.....is just not there. I don't even know where he would fit in....with any team!!

It's not a question of ability. The raw skills are there. It's the fact that he has no clue how to put together his game at the NHL level. He's going out on the ice every night like it's a rec hockey game.

I dunno. I have a hard time seeing 'raw ability' with him. He gets the puck.....and wildly has no idea what the hell to do with it. There's videos out there - showing him racing around, like he's being chased by bees, beating the living fuck out of the puck, painting himself into a corner.

 

People said the same thing about Diagle.

Truth is though you don't get to be the number 1 pick unless you have a massive amount of natural talent. The problem is every 10 or so years a player with allstar level natural ability shows up in the draft whose gotten to where he is 100% on his skill. That's scary because they haven't learned how to play hockey, I mean every part of the mental aspect and the physical training, because it's been too easy for them and they aren't wired right to put in the extra effort.

That's what's wrong with Yak and that is what was wrong with Diagle. It's too late to fix it. It should of been fixed when he was 15. If it could even be fixed. You can't make some people try harder to learn. Sometimes you can but even then it's too late to teach them what they need to learn.

 

I get what you're saying. However.....it's also well known that Yak was a number 2 draft pick. That idiot Katz overruled the Scout's 1st pick. We should have taken Murray.

 

That's what happens when ownership demands the payer that is rated #1 in NHL central scouting (Murray was #2 for North American skaters). I'm not agreeing that he should of been #1, but for an owner who looks at the central scouting report I'm sure it was easy to say "take that guy."
