    What a tribute. #11 forever.

Whether you liked him or not, he was a class act all around. A true leader and senators legend.
So many memories growing up and watching this guy and it's so well deserved.

It's a proud night to be a Sens fan.

Great player. Great man. Too bad about the Sens and how he ended up in Detroit but, still, classy how they handled things after that. Him wearing the Wings jersey didn't ruin what he did though the image of it is a bit of a piss off to be fair.

Watching him cry as he lost every single playoff series a few years in a row to Sundins Leafs was classic and will live on in my memory forever :p. I know that sounds like a dig but growing up my dad was and still is a huge Sens fan so I have a lot of special memories from watching those Leafs/Sens series in the early 2000's. I never could figure out how the Sens couldn't get past TO though when they were matched up, even when the Sens were the better team. Tons of blowouts both ways too with one game I remember clocking something like 170 penalty minutes just between Domi, Tucker, and Neil lol. If, and it's a hell of an if, the Leafs manage to snag a wild card spot this year I hope the Sens are waiting to meet them in the first round :). Too bad we can't boo Alfie though anymore for that fake stick toss (you'll know what I'm talking about).

Oh and other than the on paper callups tonight was the final nail in the coffin for Enroth with the Leafs. Bibeau played great and you could see the team feed on his confidence.

That time in the playoffs vs the Pens when the Sens were a game away from elimination. Reporter asked Alfi if he thought they could come back in the series, he said 'probably not'. Legendary leader

All jokes aside, I like the guy. Really good player. Seemed like good teammate. That particular instance that I mentioned was a bit ridiculous but as a whole, he's cool.

You missed a joke in that, or at least it seems like you did. Earlier, I can't remember which year but it would be around 2002, Alfie had guaranteed that the Sens would win game 6 in TO and send the series back to Ottawa for a game 7. He got on national television and swore that even though they were down 3-2 and needed a game 6 win to stay alive that they would come back and win the series. They ended up being shut out by Toronto in a piss poor performance in game 6. Ever since then it was a pretty popular thing for people to ask Alfie if the Sens could fight their way through an elimination game lol.

I honestly never knew that. I just saw the post-game, while watching live and took it at face value. I was a little confused by his response lol. But either way, I have respect for the guy. I was just poking fun at @TheRenegade with my comment.

Not sure how legit it is but I just heard some weird shit about mcdavid. Apparently he never wanted to play in Toronto at all and wanted to go to Buffalo. Thats why he was pissed about the draft when it happened on tv. Someone said he also is the reason Mactavish got fired because he didnt like the coversation about the "future" of the team and called Orr the next day after the draft. I kind of believe it because he seems like a baby. Lots of family drama as well thats why hes probably happy to be in Edmonton and away from them, so I think he will be there long term

You mean he didn't want to go to Edmonton right? I think I've heard that rumor a few times and it wouldn't surprise me.

As for family drama there's always that. Heck Gretzky didn't go to the Leafs from the Oil because his dad told him he'd have more impact in LA, which was true. I think people underestimate the impact of family sometimes.

On that note I'd be curious to hear what @Tilt knows about the Pronger trade. Everyone knows he left Edmonton because his wife told him he had to or face a divorce. Lots of people say he had a cute little thing that was not his wife on his arm a lot in Edmonton at the clubs lol.

Ya, McDavid didn't want to go to Edmonton. They made a big deal about his facial expression when he found out at the lottery, or something lol. I remember seeing that petty story, and rolling my eyes. But that is part of the deal. If you are a top draft pick, you need to expect to go somewhere that needs help. Heck, Mario didn't want to go to Pittsburgh. He didn't even put the jersey on. But look how that turned out. He is now the most respected man that the town has ever seen. It'll all work out for McDavid. He just needs to have the right attitude.

I'll be honest, and say that I have no insider knowledge during the Pronger period. My best insight was during the late 80's, early 90's. Had a couple ties to the team at the time.
But that does make total sense. Especially at that time frame.

As for McDavid. No one will ever know which team he preferred to be on. I don't think he wanted to go to TO, as it likely would've been a nightmare. And I do believe that he was expecting to go to Buffalo. And in his own words....was just surprised that the Oilers name appeared - as he just never considered it. Again......I don't think anyone will ever know for real. And I don't care. He's in Edmonton. And if he had ANY role in removing MacTavish......then even BETTER!!!!! hahaha

Being a franchise type player in any Canadian city isn't fun when your team is losing. When you're winning though it's great lol.

Toronto may be the center of the storm, but every other team is a microcosm of the same pressure just not on a national scale.

McDavids enjoyment of Edmonton will depend on how far he and the other players can push them through the playoffs in the coming years.

Winner winner right here. That was Lindros's biggest issue past the soft melon. He screwed his career right off the bat by demanding a trade that left his new starting franchise poorly equipped and unable to support him.

As long as McDavid can keep his head on straight and let his play do the talking he will be fine. It sounds like he got slapped on the wrist for the last incident and figured out that he should of kept his mouth shut.

You have to admit that the 2004 playoffs game 7 was not exactly the Sens's fault when their goalie (Lalime who I loved but this particular game was trash) couldn't save a beach-ball from going in the net. That was one disappointing game 7.

Likely trade coming. From what I heard they might want a Stars goalie and the stars have been linked to MAF. I see Lehtonen movinf if I had to guess

Man, I know everyone keeps saying Stars wants to deal Lehtonen and grab MAF. I just don't see that happening. Maybe some 3-way deal but still I don't see the fit. At least not Lehtonen coming our way. He makes almost as much as MAF and more than Murray. And on Dallas' end, that would be even more $ locked up into the goaltending position (although MAF would be a nice upgrade for them). In a perfect world, Pens keep both of our goalies :D

As far as Halak....yes, Greiss has outplayed him, but I think Halak took a lot of blame. I don't believe that he deserved to be the whipping boy for some of NYI's problems. Snow is just a bad GM and doesn't know how to build a team. If I'm Johnny T, I'm out the door when the contract is up.

Now yes. Then no. I don't think he was pissed off about it but he had a kids reaction to something he didn't like.
