Super interested in what Tavares is thinking right now. Who the hell would want to stay in the shit hole Islanders organization in your one and only life you can play hockey. Have to think he sees Marner, Matthew's, and Nylander playing for his hometown team and is tempted.

Between the team going backwards (or stagnant), a pretty bad GM, the whatever the hell is going on with the Arena(s) etc, I have no idea why he would want to sign on for another 8 years there. That would effectively be the rest of his prime career. Especially because there is opportunity for a few teams to build the right way and be the next powerhouses when the window closes in the current era (Pens, Hawks, Caps etc). NYI doesn't strike me as 1 of those teams to be on that next wave, they will likely stay mediocre.

The Los Angeles Times is reporting Jonathan Quick has just sold his home in Manhattan Beach ... good news is he has another one he bought last year. He made about a million on the one he just sold.

I was at the conference where Gretzky admitted he had the option of being traded to either the Kings or Leafs. According to Gretzky, he really didn't know which team he wanted to play for so he asked his dad. His dad basically told him that on Toronto he'd just be another one of the greats in their history but in LA he'd redefine their franchise and have a far larger influence on the area. It was a pretty interesting and true comment. In Toronto Gretzky would never of created the legacy that he has in LA, where kids basically started watching and playing the game because of him.

Assuming the Oil kept everyone in tact, they would've won cups till early 90's for sure. Pens should be grateful or they wouldn't of had a cup until 2009.

... although the 1982 M.O.M. proved LA was capable of bringing down the beast. Down 3 games to 1 ... precursor to the almighty 3 game teal teaser.

I dunno, man. I get what you are saying but I'm not all about speculating who would not have won if so and so stayed together etc. Calgary was awesome in '89. Who knows what would've happened. The Pens early 90's teams were incredible. I don't want to discredit any team who wins the Cup. Sometimes the 'best' team on paper or reg season points etc team doesn't win the Cup. When the Kings barely made it into the playoffs and won the Cup, they weren't the 'best' team. But the kicked everyone's ass in the playoffs and deserved to win. (thanks to Brown, Drew and Quick for being amazing on those runs)

Just remember Toronto is and will always be the center of the hockey universe. Just wait until these young leafs mature. Better days are ahead

Lol. I mean, if we are talking the central hub for media or something, then ya sure. If we are talking performance-based since the expansion boom, then not so much.

The Leafs are cool, don't get me wrong but do something in the last 50 years and then maybe you can brag a little
