Tough one. Caps played a hell of a series though. It was a good run, so I am not mad. Should be a good conference finals.

Now that is a classy post! I have to say good ridden to the Pens but your fans handled themselves well after the OT goal, unlike another unnamed team!

Unfortunately every city has their bad ones. I'd like to think most of us here realized that sometimes you just get beat. Flat out. I feel fortunate to have the runs we have had, the players we have had in my lifetime etc. And this year, the Caps just played like they wanted it. Everyone stepped up. Good on them. If they win it all then good for their fans and good for Ovi and his legacy.

Hopefully the majority of the Pens fan base isn't looking to blame 1 thing or 1 person. The team is fine. It is really hard to win the Cup. Caps had their goalie step-up and be the guy he should be, big guns were great, secondary scoring was good. Also, they had a great game plan last night (especially w/ Backstrom out). They played tight and disciplined. They waited for Pens to make a mistake, and took advantage. No excuses. Good hockey.

 

It amazes me that holtby didn't start against cbj.

 

Ya, I mean he struggled at points this year. On NHL net pretty much everyone on the panel said they thought Grubauer was the right call, at the time. But that is another thing you have to give Trotz credit on. He knew when to make the right move. Gutsy to not start Holtby and then he turned to him and got the most out of him. He was really awesome in the Pens series.

 

I don't follow them much but from what I remember holtby kinda shit the bed at the end of the season. Makes sense why they would start the backup then make holtby prove he deserved to be on the ice.

Of course losing the first two at home against Columbus kinda helped holtby get back his spot.
