Good point. For the league it is great to have new fans, more money and attention on the game etc.

The noob/bandwagon thing becomes funny when those people really don't know anything about the sport but think they do or talk trash but have no clue what they are talking about lol. Always funny to me at least. But this thread is fun, I like it. Twitter can be bad and I won't even sign up on HF boards.

 

The leafs fans got butthurt and left cuz their team was getting trash talked too much in the trash talk thread lol

But for me personally once my team is out, usually in the first round , the middle rounds of the playoffs just kinda drag on and it feels like it takes forever to get to the finals so I don’t watch games nearly as religiously as when my team is still in it. And when I’m not watching games I’m usually not gonna be posting as much.

 

I agree, I'm just saying some people act like this is new and sports don't have a marketing department that tries to draw in new fans and try to make their sport grow. It's funny but I could care less if someone is a bandwagon fan, I am a fan of the sport and would still prefer growth at the cost of some people not knowing what they are talking about. It would be like Toyota only allowing people to buy a Tacoma if they knew what they were talking about, that clearly would cut the Tacoma ownership in half

Not sure if any of that matters. If you are a a part time fan of any sport that's just fine, or you could be a lifer like myself and not be on the thread all of the time cause you have life to deal with! What ever the reason is its about having some fun and talking trash fore and against. I also understand when they are done once out. I know I have not wanted to be in here once my Caps have been ousted by say hmmm the Rangers or the Pens for as many years as I can remember. I call it needing to re-boot after another let down.

 

My SIL is a Kings "fan" but hasn't mentioned them since 2014. I'll periodically ask her how Andy Kopizar or Justin Braun is doing and she has no clue i'm calling her out on her BS. Those are the fans I can't stand. I do the same thing to my mom, who is a Ducks fan (however, I think the only reason she tries to follow hockey is to try and have more things to talk to me about) but I think she barely realized Hiller wasn't on the team this mid season.

 

Some of us just leave when assholes show up and take things to a personal level. Guys that the mods claim "have no issues on TW," but then get banned for 30 days about a week later for harassing members. I was here for over five years talking hockey and a little trash, but this thread is a shit hole every year when the new folks show up and it just gets a little worse each year. It's a hockey trash talk thread. Keep comments clean and team/fanbase based. No one needs to drag things into some sort of combination of trolling and hate filled banter about who can lie about having a better life. Even @OZ-T knows that. If people could keep it about the hockey and teams I'd love to stick around but they can't and our mods on TW suck balls so it's only going to get worse.
