Not a Vegas fan, and agree with your statement. Minor at best.

 

Guy in class the other day told me Jason Bay is his all time favorite Bucco (seriously wtf). I asked him if Mattaa was his favorite Pen.

 

For real, man. I'm a Sharks fan but they aren't my team. I like Vegas too, so I have no dog in that fight. But people are acting like that call robbed Vegas, but while it did have a big impact and was wrong, just man up and accept the blame. If they deserved to win, they don't give up that shorty and then don't allow 4 goals in 4 mins on a major kill. I don't think I've ever even seen that in my life. Have any of you guys?

Lol I can only give him a slight pass since Buccos had very few other cool players in that era. Whereas the Pens always have awesome players to choose from, to be your favorite. But I get your point lol.

I’m 34, and remember from Bonds, Bell, Van Slyke, etc. to current.

Hockey is tough. So many great players. Hard to pick against Mario.

The Predators will want a kings ransom I’m sure for Subban if they deal him. His value hasn’t really dropped because most GMs will believe he still has a pile left in the tank. I’m guessing no less than a 1st round pick, a very good drop in roster player, and a top three in the system prospect will even interest Nashville. Likely a superstar forward and change is what they want. Someone will give them that but I can’t see the Pens having the assets needed to pull it off without hurting themselves.

 

Devils advocate, Kadri, Gardiner (his rights before the draft), and a 2nd for Subban . I know they wouldn’t go for that but it would be nice lol.

 

Agree 100%. To me, the proposed scenario that I mentioned is a no-brainer. But in reality that won't happen. And like you said, Pens have no assests unless they trade a Geno, Letang Kessel.....And that may happen (unfortunately) but I don't see Subban making sense coming back in a deal involving them. If Gardiner hits the open market I wouldn't mind seeing the Pens get him. I'm sure they won't but he would be a decent fit here.

 

Malkin and Kessel have no trade clauses I believe, but I wouldn’t mind seeing Letang swapped for someone nearly as good with more years in the tank.

 

Ya all 3 have some sort of a NTC. Letang's is the 12 team list or whatever. I love 58 but he plays so high risk and never owns up to it. He's not going to change either. He thinks he is as good as Karlsson with the puck and he's not even on the same planet as that guy. There is real talk of 71 and/or 81 getting moved though too. Seems crazy. I can't imagine any return being more than what you have in those guys, with this current window. To me all 3 of Pens top stars are bargains. I'd rather have Kessel at just under 7m than so many other people in the league in that range (including Marlaeu and Nylander - no offense to Leafs fans).

 

Trading Malkin or Kessel would be foolish. We won with shaky defense, it’s just .. bad money on defense right now.

I’ll be upset if Phil goes. He doesn’t play defense, but the man is pure offense. Can’t hate his work ethic there.
