I'd say it's a pretty good start to the 62 game season.

 

What happened to Vegas?

 

Same thing that happened to Toronto. Kids got paid and now don't give a fuck. Sad days....
To make it worst the fans blame the coach lol so they dont even get held accountable

 

Yeah the give a fuck without the puck in TO is zero. I get that people want an easy solution like changing coaches but I'm with you that it's not on Babcock for these players to give a shit.

 

I don't think Babcock is perfect but ya he's not the reason they are losing. Fans are just stupid and think they know everything. They complain about the back to backs and yet it's been reported for years the maple leafs analytics people want Andersen the first game and not the second. They complain about the special teams and defensive system when that has nothing to do with Babcock, thats the new assistant coaches jobs. They also complain about the depth as if it's Babcock fault lol thats all on Dubas. I think there's still overreaction though. If they won a couple of those close one goal games they are sitting with 26 pts, similar to what they had last year at this time. Still 60 games left

 

Agreed. They'll either figure it out or they won't. Margins of victory are pretty small in a salary cap world.

 

Toronto sucks

 

I was at a party so I didn't get to see the Toronto game. I was actually worried that it was going to be the game where Toronto gets it together and has their bounce-back game. But glad that didn't happen lol. Geno needs to be the man for a while, with all of our injuries. Glad we got that win.

Yeah. It's more shock value to the players than anything is what they're hoping. It won't change the new D that look lost or the half ass efforts from some players.

 

Panic in the front office

 

It's about giving Dubas his last bullet. Everything he's done so far has failed. Assistant coaches, players, contracts , etc. Head coach was the last one he didn't hire.
Clock is now ticking for him I think

 

They haven't been playing run and gun this season though. They've played mostly dump and chase this year for offence which is a physical style. The offense isn't the issue. It's the constant give aways in their own end and lack of effort without the puck that has killed them. Those aren't system or size issues. Those are mental breakdowns that are unacceptable at the NHL level.

It's easy to point at the amount of cap the forwards receive and the type of forwards those players are and say what NBC is saying, but if you actually watch Leafs games you'd see the issues are far worse than something you could solve with some bigger bodies and harder hits.

 

Toronto sucks

 

My two cents is that the talking heads can point all over this team all day for easy answers but really if this team was 15-2-2 no one would be that surprised with the talent level they have. Going bigger after a stint like this is what the Oilers did and man did it fuck them up royal, that's literally the last thing they need to do. Tougher on the puck, sure, but that's it. Bottom line the players that are on the roster are skilled and capable of winning games when they work hard and play skilled. Right now the Leafs aren't doing the first part and are doing the second part half assed.

 

My take, Shanny hired Babcock to organise the kids. He isn't getting them to play now though so out he goes in favor of a guy who most of the kids played for a couple of years back. It's an easy answer though I doubt it'll work.

 

The only major knock I have on Babcock is his lack of flexibility. This year especially he seemed to try to jam players into his system rather than design a system for the players.
