I like the Canucks now lol. They are fun to watch. I like the Yotes too. It's cool seeing some of these teams start to turn it around.

 

Looks like you wont be seeing Dahlin play after the elbow he took last night. Sabres are saying he is out with a concussion. I am so disappointed in the lack of response.

 

Dude even like a week or so ago when Eichel ended up dropping them. And they got no juice, even after that.

 

Its embarrassing. Fortunately I like watching hockey in general so I enjoy watching other teams play.

 

I hear you. I mean, the Sabres are cool, I love Eichel but he is like the only dude on that team who seems like he really cares. I used to question him too, but this year he has really impressed me. Just gotta get everyone else on board.

Thoughts on the Peters situation?

Some of what I read makes it seem not as clear cut as it is being made out. Basically, I have seen the other side of the argument and other players are saying that when he said that, he was referencing the repetitive word being used in the lyrics (and not wanting it played in the locker room any longer), not describing the music as that word (or him). So if that is the case, then I am not sure it is as egregious as it seems. It would be no different than repeating lyrics of a song containing that word or reciting a skit from Chappelle Show. I know there is gray area there. Now if that wasn't what happened, and he just said that to describe that type of music, then he is wrong and should be punished. And obviously he seems like the typical douche coach, similar to Babcock. But I just feel like if there was no intent or that word was not used a certain way, then it might not be as crazy as it is being made out. Would like to discuss if it can be done without turning into an argument.

 

Nah, Peters wasn't repeating lyrics. If he said what is being reported it's unacceptable especially given he was confronted by his captain about it and chose not to apologize for it. You can throw around that word liberally, everyone knows that. He wasn't rapping out some lyrics, he was telling the player he hates his races music in an unacceptably racist way.

Peter's will be fired the moment the GM feels the story is confirmed. The only thing I feel bad for him about is that his punishment is coming over ten years after his crime. That being said because of that delay he was an NHL coach and will never have to worry about money so my sympathy for him is almost non existent.

 

A cultural reckoning is occurring in the NHL. It turns out you can't be a bigot and get away with it anymore. I get people who are frustrated with that hoping the hammer doesnt drop on them or who feel that everyone makes mistakes so these things should be forgiven. That being said it is what it is, there are some things that are implied with certain words that are unacceptable.
