Nope. I'm just surprised how many people don't get the flow of cash that happens on Allstar weekend. It's the NHL's chance to lure in more future sponsorships for itself and its players.

I thought the skills night was decent. The games were ok. The 1st East game was quite terrible. Holtby didn't even look like he was trying at all. It got better, as it went on at least. It is all in what you make of it. I thought it was ok.

If anyone was wondering who watched this crap my 9 year old son was interested so I watched some of both the skills and games the following day with him.
I'd say the best parts were the women's game (at least they looked like they actually gave a shit) and Billy Joe Armstrong slipping in a couple of F-bombs.

A pro routinely breaks shafts. Now they add a hole....

I saw a YouTube review. Seems like at least in a practise setting the tech works. Basically the top of the blade is almost solid carbon fiber and the bottom is thin. This allows the puck release to feel more whippy without losing control of stick handling, supposedly. The hole is covered with stick tape which makes it look like a normal stick once on the ice.

It'll either be a major innovation or something to laugh at in five years. In any case it's getting Bauer some attention which I'm sure was a part of their decision to build it.

Hmm. Ya, I had some questions. So you do tape over the hole, like normal? And I was just thinking during a puck battle or something, if a player chops down on your blade, if it could easily crack that top bar? I initially thought the hole was supposed to be part of the benefit and it made me think of the old RBK 808 O-stick. Which I thought was cool, when it came out but then realized it actually sucked lol. So the blade itself is giving it some pop on release? That isn't just due to the kick-point or kick-point location? Pretty crazy.

From what I've seen they say to tape over the hole which makes the stick look normal. The top of the blade over the hole is supposedly tougher than the entire blade of most sticks, so it shouldn't snap. It's supposed to act like a support for the bottom blade which, yes, is supposed to act like a rubber band in a sling shot and add more force to any shot. From the YouTube reviews it actually works and the feel is amazing without giving up any puck handling or feel. Bauer might have something here.

Also the stick doesn't use a four sided shaft. It uses a five sided one built to fit a gloved hand. The blade hole isn't the only innovation in this stick.

I've seen a lot of "it makes it more whippy and quicker shots" from Bauer/Bauer sponsored "reviews" with zero information/data from Bauer actually putting numbers to it. If they actually threw out some numbers showing a legitimate improvement it wouldn't seem as gimmicky to me.

Hmm. Ya, I probably won't be looking to spend that, even though my sticks are almost that much anyways. I guess we will see how it goes.
