I read the Pens tried to re-acquire him a short team ago, but were rebuffed. If so, it's odd that Vegas basically shed Fleury for the salary cap hit as the prospect in return from Chicago is not even considered a potential NHL caliber player.

 

He said he doesn't wish to uproot his family again. I think he still has a residence in Pittsburgh though.

I’d shed Jarry and DeSmith for MAF all day, but Sully is loyal to a fault and prob wouldn’t want Jarry out even tho he’d let a bowling ball past him in the playoffs.

 

The word is the Pens are looking for a 1B goalie. They can't afford Fleury. Taking on his salary would mean getting rid of some big name. I wonder if he can "retire," then res-sign for a nominal amount? Most superstars, even in their twilight, are too proud to do that though.

 

Pens have the money but they have to shed goalies to make the cap work. There are teams without goalies, or ones without viable backups, that could enable a three way deal to make the numbers work.

Either way, Chicago didn’t make a move for him to not flip him for more. Vegas really wanted to dump that salary.

 

It's a cold as fuck move, but I'm not surprised in the slightest that they did it.

 

Cap Friendly says Fleury is due to make $7M next season. Jarry and DeSmith combined are due to make 4.75M. The Pens had no cap space before they traded McCann and Tanev was drafted by Seattle. They now have about $7.5M but they have plenty of holes to fill. They are in the process of signing Aston-Reese, likely for $2-2.5M, so that's about $5M left. If they flipped Jarry ($3.5M) for Fleury they would have only $1.5-$2M for any free agent or other RFA signing. Ceci is gone. McCann is gone. Tanev is gone. For me, they would have to shed a rather large salary, like Zucker or Letang to make it work.

We should have a pool on how many games DeAnglo goes before he has irreconcilable differences with Brind'Amour.

 

I’ve been off the Malkin wagon for years, especially have he had Kessel ran out. That move still infuriates me. I don’t care if he doesn’t play average defense, he’s an absolute threat on offense.. and we had him on a deal. So dumb.

DeSmith would also be gone in this scenario. They’d call up Lagace.

 

I have given up on Malkin too. The problem is so have most other teams for $9.5M and he won't even be ready for the first month or so, as he is coming off of surgery. I don't see any teams taking a chance on him under these circumstances.

 

should be interesting for sure. Don’t know much about him read he had some good scoring and assists, and that he had some issues with his own teammates but I think what many disliked him most for were some twitter posts of which I only read a couple lol. Where should we start with him:

• Suspended for eight games in OHL rookie year following a violation of the league's Harassment and Abuse/Diversity Policy, harassed a minority team mate to the point the league intervened.
  
• Later in rookie season, DeAngelo received a two-game suspension for abuse of an official.
  
• Healthy scratch for eight games in AHL rookie season, a decision rumored to be a combination of behavioral issues and poor defensive ability.
  
• Suspended in 2017 for three games for physical assault of a referee during a NHL game.
  
• Benched several times in NY for "behavioral issues". At this point he's well into his 20s and still a complete nut on his third NHL team.
• Benched after receiving 2 year 9.6 million dollar contract after taking multiple unsportsmanlike penalties in preseason games. Was warned he'd be waived if it continued.
• Assaulted his own goalie after an overtime loss. Rangers waived him then bought him out.

Point blank the dude shouldn't be playing hockey. He goes off like a nut constantly on social media and, when fans come after him, he makes fake accounts to harass them (confirmed by NYR.) Honestly, the league should of stepped up and just banned him. He brings nothing to the game by being on the ice. He's a timebomb waiting to go off on officials, teammates, and fans.

 

Don’t worry, he’ll take a terrible penalty on his first shift back to make up for lost time.

Doesn’t seem like someone that would fit the Canes players mold. If canes do sign him he won’t last long if he pulls any of that stuff, Rod won’t have it.

Actually the last bullet I read he said something uncalled for to the goalie and the goalie hit him. Don’t have the desire to look into him more will wait and see.

 

When he was suspended in the OHL it was a big deal in Canada. It was the first time I can recall a player was suspended for basically being a racist bigot to a teammate in major junior. I mean it's probably happened before but that made the news cycle here. People gave him a pass though because his last CHL season was a bit more normal. After that though he went back to being, well, a racist bigot with a big mouth.

The Rangers were pretty quiet about the whole thing though they made it clear the goalie didn't start it. Supposedly it was ongoing, with DeAngelo having a problem with all the "foreign" players on the team. They never elaborated what exactly he had said and did before the goalie clocked him, but I'm guessing it was more of DeAngelo being what he is.

 

Using advanced stats Ethan Bear was the Oilers best D last year other than Nurse. He's on track to be a consistent number 2 D on any team in the NHL. Why Holland would trade that, no one knows. I'm wondering if something is broken inside him lol.
