That's wild! My wife is one of his biggest fans haha. If he keeps up the pace he is on, i could see him being the next lead of the core group after the big 3 retire. His work ethic, hockey iq and determination around the net are some really special traits that will only grow playing with sid! I think the coolest story of meeting a family member of an nhl player was when i was staying at the Marriott across from ppg when the pens were playing the leafs. My wife, son and i went down for breakfast in the lobby and this old couple were smiling at my son and talking to themselves. finally the lady walked up and said "your son is adorable in his penguins gear, makes me remember my son when he was that little." i asked " did your son love the penguins?" she replies "oh not when he was young but he did play for them, his name is Ron Hainsey, and your son reminds me so much of him when he was little with the passion he has for hockey." i was blown away! she brought her husband over to meet us and talk and they ended up agreeing if they saw their boy after the game that they would bring him to meet my son. unfortunately the leaf's left immediately after the game.

They definitely got the golden ticket for sure. I think they were so worried that hockey wouldn't flourish in that town that they needed to make sure it was big from the beginning.

Very cool, I have a ton of stories about Jake and his Brothers. But what stands out is Jake is the youngest of his two other Brothers and his two cousins. So when the 5 of them got together Jake was always to odd man out. Those 4 tried real hard to keep the puck away from Jake. By doing that they made him quick and sharpened his hockey skills. Jake had skill when he played peewee hockey. Jakes Grandfather was my Uncle. He always told me to keep an eye on Jake because he would be famous someday. Sadly he passed away before Jake became what he is today. Everytime Jake scores I sware I can hear my Uncle Laugh

So Lehner is having surgery and is done for the season after all. Hilarious. Why wouldn't DeBoer just say that, when the report came out? I assume he wanted him to continue to try to play, while they had a more realistic chance to make playoffs. But clearly, he was playing hurt. And then DeBoer would blame the losses on Lehner's performance lol. Either way, hopefully Lehner has a good recovery. I'm not laughing at him, but just the team and how they handle things. When they got Eichel, I thought they were going to be a serious contender but they've just continued to spiral. I still think firing Gallant was the beginning of the end. That was insane.

It's all about Vegas not hockey. That town should've got a soccer team instead.

First post here, relatively new guy to TW.
Been a hockey fan a long time. My Dad took me to Seals games as a kid. He was an "agent" for a few of the players. Basically, he told them to take the $ to play a game. Back when players had less leverage than now. I have a couple of signed pucks from them, not even sure who they are
More recently, my buds and I have been season ticket holders for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and Anaheim Ducks since the inception.
Team has had ups and downs, more downs recently - though I think the future looks to be improving well.
I didn't make it Sunday, but they did a very nice sendoff for Getzlaf. Nice last assist to end a career.

The Pens are going in the wrong direction. Last night's game was a butt whooping. Sit Kapanen for the playoffs and put big Brian Boyle in instead.

welcome! that's awesome! when i was little my favorite team was the mighty ducks through and through. Always have had much respect for the things getzlaf has done for that team as well.
This shirt from barstool would be right up your alley https://store.barstoolsports.com/products/gloat-tee
the pens are either 1. shitting the fucking bed 2. not worrying about the last games and playing safe to be healthy 3. hoping to drop to play Carolina and letting wsh and nyr to be a head on car crash.

I don't believe they are losing to avoid the Rangers. At this point they are possibly going to play Florida, I believe. I think the wild card team with the lowest amount of points plays the 1st seed.

    4. Don't do well against teams that are faster then them. Which is why they get smoked by NYR, FL, Edmonton etc. They get way too many chances against us and get to every loose puck.

You are correct. And FL scores at will, so that wouldn't exactly be favorable to play them over NYR. Both teams are a bad match-up for Pittsburgh.

Whit doesn't have to take a blue pill to slam his trophy wife. He just thinks of the Leafs and gets a hate bone that lasts for four hours.

The 60th goal was nasty too. I love how he moves the puck slightly when he loads a shot, to make it hard to track the direction of the shot.

Marner being a much bigger threat has also opened more room around him for that shot. My feeling is that he's as good as Ovi at picking corners and holes but he can do it better on the move where Ovi usually has to setup and park. If Matthews doesn't get hurt he'll probably end up around where Ovi does for goal totals.

Ya I agree. I love Ovi and I hope he gets the record. But his bread and butter is a stationary rocket. AM can score from anywhere and also do it in motion, turning etc. Plus he is incredible with deception. He can almost hide the puck as he loads and then like I mentioned can change the angle etc. Plus, he can release it so quickly. He's just so well-rounded, as a pure scorer. I hope he can keep it up and have a long career. And like we've mentioned before, I think his game has become more well-rounded than he gets credit for.

Who knows, especially with how brutal the east is. But I think they will at least beat Tampa.
