NHL conspired another one!

 

Hopefully TB makes it a real series tomorrow at home. Who needs sweeps they’re no fun lol

 

Mike Smith has never impressed me, he gives up too many easy goals. Especially in the playoffs.

 

I'm hoping his bags are packed, and he takes the first plane out of Edmonton....after tomorrow night.

 

I think goaltending is definitely their weakest area. I don't know if they've got what it takes even with a better netminder but I'd be happy to see McDavid hoist the cup.

 

It's good to see Don Koharski still hitting the doughnuts...

 

Gonna be a significant challenge. For any Canadian Team, for that matter..

The money and 'scene' is just too great in the US. It's not a fluke that Florida has two of the strongest Teams in the NHL. Big $$$$....and fantastic weather. The taxes are WAY better, as well!
Edmonton will have a tough road paying their superstars to stay there. And won't have a lot left over, for a big name goalie...or some actual solid defense. Honestly....the only 'card' that Edmonton has, is that some players are willing to take a pay cut (and live in shit weather), to play with McDavid and Draisaitl. But that only lasts for so long..

Smith has let in some easy ones but he's stopped more than his fair share of tough saves too. I certainly don't think either of Edmonton's goalies are anything special but I still don't think it would matter much. They don't play with any structure. Look what that last series did to Markstrom, in Calgary. Most would say he's a pretty good tender and he was terrible that series. But Calgary for whatever reason tried to just outscore Edmonton, rather than play smart (like they did all year, until that point.) When teams want to trade chances, it makes it very tough for a goalie. It's essentially what ruined Fleury for a while here in Pittsburgh, during the end of Bylsma's tenure. We tried to just play north and fly the zone with Sid and Geno and gave up too many chances in the process and MAF unraveled. Edmonton won't win unless they change how they play. Everyone made fun of Torts last year (or whenever that was) when he said something similar, but he's right.
