Funny. That game was garbage in my opinion, though. No team is coming back from 2 disallowed goals. I realize it's not NHL rules but still both very iffy, in my opinion. That game was much closer than the score. USA always finds a way to mess up though, whether it be WJ or Olympics etc. So I'm not saying USA would've won but just saying that game was kind of a joke.

Pens are hilariously unmotivated right now. I actually can't get mad when Kessel scores on us, so it is what it is. But still to open the game and look that flat, is just hilarious at this point. This whole year has been big win/loss streaks. Not good.

They are in a freefall right now. Crosby is doing his part, but not anybody else.

I hear 6-4 is still winning.

I get your comments though. The second goal is a no goal to me. The first was rough for the US.

Let's not pretend that taking away 2 goals that you score when the game is still up for grabs doesn't change your morale, game plan etc. I mean, you know better than that. Especially when everyone knows that USA has to bring their best and limit mistakes to have a chance of beating Canada. You take away 2 goals and that's a tall task to overcome.

Do you mean when they wear them with the blue unis? I feel like they have done that for a few different variations of the blue uniform and overall I don't mind it. But I can totally see someone not liking it. They do stand out a bit much, since there usually isn't much white in the rest of the uni. Some years it worked better than others.

I agree with this. I think the first goal should have counted but oh well. The second as soon as I saw it I thought it would be overturned. Maybe at 3-3 the game goes differently but it didn't.

Let's not pretend that a good team can overcome obstacles?

Again, I see your point, but simply blaming the game on a couple of overturned goals doesn't make sense when the team loses by multiple goals. Team USA could have overcome. They did not. That's my take.

Re-read my originsl post. I didn't blame the loss on the refs or say USA deserved to win. I said the way it was called was a joke, which it was. And it made USA's chances much harder. You coukd argue thst USA was the better team fir much of that game. Maybe they get those goals and they can play tighter, which is what it appeared they were trying to do. And I'm fully aware that USA blows games all the time, so by no means am I trying to say they would've won. I'm just pointing out that calling those 2 goals back put a damper on the game. If those exact goals were disallowed on Canada, the city would be on fire today.

Nice comeback by the Pens. That's playing hard, as a team.

The first 5 mins or so I was like "are you serious right now?!" I'm glad they were able to battle back. Nice night for Geno. Zucker too. That hit was amazing. Tokarski looked solid. Making saves w/o his catching glove lol.

Wait, when did that person say that post that you quoted? Recently? I missed it. To even say that about Lemieux is absolutely clueless, lmao. The guy battled multiple illnesses/issues his whole career. And when he retired it was from a heart condition. He complained about the "roughness of the league" because he would get gang tackled on the way to the net or have guys take axe swings at his wrists in playoffs etc. What ignorance.

But yes, Jags is the man. Still going strong. It's amazing.

Lemieux finally retired at the ag of 40 or 41, if I remember correctly. Hardly an early retirement age, especially back then, when the game was more physical. Guys today seem to be able to play longer because of the lack of physicality and just generally better nutrition and training.

Exactly. What that guy said makes no sense at all. If anything, Mario is probably tougher than most players. He would play on nights that his back was so messed up that someone else had to tie his skates. The guy flew to Philly straight after his radiation treatment, to play that same night lol.

Neither will the Pens. They are at risk for breaking their consecutive years in the playoffs. If they do make the playoffs they are just too old to have any juice to get through the grind.
