I've never understood the change in rule calling from the regular season to playoffs. I get its important games but penalties are penalties, I don't care which version of penalty calling is standard but set a standard.

That being said, leafs look toast, hopefully the core 4 can wake up a little..at least everyone other than Nylander.

 

It seems like there's just some kind of unspoken/unwritten understanding (at least as far as public knowledge goes) that officiating needs to relax during the postseason to make things more exciting or whatever. Not saying I think that is good. And the panthers have been taking advantage of that, they know the officials are not going to call everything. They are just pushing the window of acceptable play further toward senseless violence. The Domi hit on Barkov at the end and the ensuing scrum to me signal that the officials have lost control of the series, now Toronto is just taking matters into their own hands, and I don't know if that will be a good strategy for them.

Toronto gets to go home and if Woll can put up another game like the other night I think they'll be fine. Matthews needs to wake up but am not expecting that to happen. Dude's gotta be one of the least clutch playoff performers ever, although it does seem like even for him something is up. He has not been the same this whole season IMO.

 

Canes looking good against the Caps with strong defense and goalie play. It took a 5 on 3 power play for Ovi to finally score a goal in the series.

Leafs are done. I mean, I always have some hope, but there's zero intensity from their core again today. The Panthers fight for every puck and know what to do with it. The Leafs bat at loose pucks like they just want to touch it and be done with it.

 

She's done for Toronto. Marner's dad is likely already picking out which cities/teams he'll let his son sign with.

 

Ironically the Edmonton Separatists are Canada's team now

 

My kid likes them because of his cousins, I gave up on the flames many years ago so I'm not loyal to any team. But its still hard to cheer for the oilers.

I still 100% hate van way more than any other team. You cant change that.

 

I want to hate them, but Skinner coming back like that after everyone threw him under the bus is a story for the ages. If only Marner could respond like that.

 

I'll add that Skinners response is classic. He played for a local WHL team. I remember him getting absolutely blown up one year, and then carrying a much weaker team to the conference finals. He's elite but extremely streaky, and his lows are god awful. Edmonton has it tough against Dallas. Not only can they score from four lines, but Ottenger (wrong spelling sorry) is the toughest goalie they will face.
